These are a new Pringles range on me, Gourmet crisps - The tube I have is Tiger Prawn & Crushed Garlic Flavour.
*** What's the pack like? ***
The tube they come is about two thirds of the size of a "normal" tube of Pringles
This tube is a vivid deep purple colour, with a photo of garlic on it - no prawns, just garlic!
They are according to Mr Pringle " An exquisite tasting range of speciality ... ...same curved shape as all Pringles seem to be, I thought these looked slightly paler though.
Popping a crisp in my mouth, the taste was not overpowering, in fact it was a bit of a non-event, yes there is a garlic taste, which masks out any other taste. I think they could have got away with calling them "endangered antelope & crushed garlic" you still would only taste the garlic.

The tube they come is about two thirds of the size of a "normal" tube of Pringles This tube is a vivid deep purple colour, with a photo of garlic on it - no prawns, just garlic! They are according to Mr Pringle " An exquisite tasting range of speciality snacks from Pringles. Savour each delicious flavour and serve as the perfect snacking accompaniment" sounds good, but does it live up to it.
The back of the tube tells me that they are suitable for vegetarians - which promises well for stocks of Prawns in the sea!
The ingredients consist of "prawn & garlic flavour" you then have a list of 16 different ingredients for the flavour!! Hmmm
A 25g serving will cost you 128 cals, with 7.5 g of fat - 2.7 are saturates
So if you are counting the calories these are probably not for you!
I bought these on 22/08/06, and the best before date is 09/07 so if you can keep them, they will last!
*** What are they like? ***
Opening the pack, is just a case of taking off the plastic top, and pulling the foil away. I thought that the foil on this pack was slightly tougher to pull away then from the standard packs of Pringles.
Have a big sniff, I was expecting a really interesting smell, but all I could smell was a kind of flour type of smell, fairly inert really - I wasn't too impressed
Looking at the crisps, they are the same curved shape as all Pringles seem to be, I thought these looked slightly paler though.
Popping a crisp in my mouth, the taste was not overpowering, in fact it was a bit of a non-event, yes there is a garlic taste, which masks out any other taste. I think they could have got away with calling them "endangered antelope & crushed garlic" you still would only taste the garlic.
The crisps themselves were very crunchy, which is really the same as all of the Pringles range.
I did find that the garlic taste stayed with me for a while, it wasn't unpleasant, but you knew it was there
I did ask some else to try them, they said they could get a very subtle prawn taste - it obviously passed me by that one!
I didn't find the crisps too greasy, but I did find quite a lot of salt residue on my fingers.
All in all I was quite disappointed with them, I won't be buying another pack, and I'll just stick to the Sour Cream & Chive flavour
But I leave you to make your own choice!
*** Where do you get them? ***
I bought this pack of Pringles Gourmet is my local ASDA, and for a 120g tube they cost me 69 pence
Funnily enough, when you look on the ASDA web site for them, they are in the crisp section under "sharing" I THINK NOT :-)
Other flavours in the range Thai Chicken, Salt & Pepper, and Steak & Onion

Review of Pringles Gourmet Tiger Prawn and Crushed Garlic
Advantages: interseting combination of flavours Disadvantages: Not much of a prawn flavour. At the moment not easy to find
Pringles have followed in the footsteps of Walkers and McCoys and gone all-posh on us. They recently released the Aromas range and now they have a gourmet one. I spotted them in Sainsburys and since they were on offer (3 for 99 pence rather than 55 pence each) I thought I would purchase some for a Trivial Pursuit evening we were going to recently. Pringles Gourmet come in t(o my knowledge) four flavours steak and caramelised onions, chilli and lemongrass, ... ...and golden. Why are Pringles so addictive? Still I can not detect any strong scents. I really need to dive in and use my taste buds to evaluate these crisps. They have the same texture as the normal Pringles. I like the crunchiness of them. At first I can not taste much then I get quite a strong (but not overpowering taste of garlic. (Although I am sure I had just a little sliver of garlic after chewing the crisp for a couple of seconds). It tastes ...

Advantages: posh looking lol Disadvantages: stink to high heaven, taste stays in your mouth for hrs
After being rather a pringles fan and devote buyer of the 3 for 2 offer for christmas etc, when I saw these I thought may as well have a go.
Since the other pringles always seemed to end up tasting the same regardless of what flavour they were meant to be was, I thought I would try this since a) I like prawns and b) I like garlic.
It was on trial offer of 50p as a new product in my local asda. Although this was a good price, the tub is a fair bit ... ...a smaller version of the pringles I knew and liked.
First taste they were nice, couldnt taste prawn but my god, garlic was there and in abundance! The first crisp always seems to have the most taste, and this certainly did but they should have just called them garlic flavour.
After a few handfuls, I had to stop, yes indeed I stopped once I had popped. The garlic taste was so strong my mouth was burning, and the stench was just yuck!
My fingers ...

Advantages: Gorgeous crisps delicately flavoured with prawn and not so delicately with garlic Disadvantages: Can be a bit garlicy
...I really hope that the Pringles company haven't discontinued them!!! I know that this flavor isn't all that popular in general, but there are individuals, such as myself, who would go to lengths others may be shocked with in order to purchase them!!! For example, if I knew these Pringles were in a store 30 miles away, I would travel to that store just to buy them. I am sure that I will find them... I am going to call the Pringles company and enquire... ...

Advantages: They are totally delicious, and satisfying, great for ANY party! Disadvantages: They are very morish and fattening.
agree with.
There are many flavours of Pringles available in the UK, and although the Texas BBQ Sauce variety are by far my favourite, here are the others for you to try ? Original, Salt & Vinegar, Cheese and Onion, Smokin? Bacon, Cheese, Sour Cream and Onion, Paprika, Sweet Thai Chilli, Hot and Spicy, Mozzarella & Tomato.
And for those of us who wish to diet ? Light Original, and Light Sour Cream and Onion.
There are also new GourmetPringles which have a more upper-class look. And strange flavours like TigerPrawn and CrushedGarlic. As well as these there are some parts of the world which have totally individual flavours, e.g. Taco in SW America and Mexico!
Any way I have decided to stick to the more simple flavours and focus on my all time favourite ? Texas BBQ Sauce flavour.
