Cheaper than online dating …
Review of Tally Colour Laser 8008 by Plymyphil

Advantages: Attractive, quiet, very fast
Disadvantages: Expensive, unreliable, ridiculous pricing structure for consumables that fail

The Tally 8008 looks stunning. It stands proud in the corner of our ICT Suite offering visitors a tangible sensation of cutting edge reprographics. The best way to admire the machine however is on 'standby' for when you begin to demand of it the Tally 8008 provides a fantastic advert for other printing companies. Fortunately, the Tally came with a five year on site warranty, hence my lead for this review; "Cheaper than online dating …". Our administrator ...
...has of her own husband. Tally field services is stored on the phone's of most of those with the authority to initiate a field call. So, what makes this machine so unreliable? I wish I knew. As a school potentially we do give the machine heavy use but then it is sold as a workgroup printer and consequently we should be permitted to expect the printer to function effectively on a small network. Unfortunately, the Tally 8008 has an array of consumable ... Read review

Quality, speed and a big price
Review of Tally Colour Laser T8006 by robmarks

Advantages: Good quality pictures, reasonably fast
Disadvantages: Heavy, bulky and very expensive

This product was my first purchase of a colour laser printer, which was bought for my office at work. The price was £899. Not the cheapest but I was assured by the supplier that the quality was very good. Indeed the quality is good. I'm very impressed by the high standard of prints, both colour and mono. It performs particularly well on photographs, which are reproduced in excellent quality with an almost glossy finish. The printer comes with 64Mb ...
...seem. The printer is certainly fast, whipping out colour prints fairly quickly. Sadly, despite its speed and quality, this printer has some fairly big disadvantages. Firstly there is no auto duplex, which costs extra. The printer also seems to struggle with all but plain copier paper, which is a pity when you want colour pics on glossy paper. Be prepared for a heavy product. This weighs a ton. It took two people to lift the box and move it into ... Read review

A printer good for home use
Review of Canon PIXMA IP2500 by Sweetpea1075

Advantages: Inexpensive, Nice design, modern looking, OK for everyday use
Disadvantages: Noisy, takes ages to start up, goes through ink quickly

...had broken. I have a Canon camera and know that Canon is a good well know brand. It also looks nice and modern and has a nice shiny black finish. For the jobs that I want it to do at the moment, it performs well, although I am hoping to print out some large photo prints in the near future, so will be upgrading. For standard photos and written documents, it does the job nicely, although some of the colours on the photos did not come out the same ...
...the printer itself, as my PC may not be set up correctly. The disadvantage is the amount of ink it uses. I have never used so much over the last few months, especially if you are printing out photos - it is not a cheap option. Much cheaper to get them done at processing lab or online. The ink is not cheap for this printer either, compared with other similar printers. Although I have found that even when it says it is empty, there is still actually ... Read review

A good printer with added "bits"
Review of Epson Stylus Photo R300 by Carrotts73

Advantages: good print quality, cheap copy cartridges, stand alone if needed
Disadvantages: none really

The Epson R300 is a good low cost Photo Printer. It has lots of useful features, for instance you can print direct from a camera, or pop a memory card into the reader on the front. If you're connected to a PC then it can use the memory card reader as well. It is also possible to attach a Bluetooth module and print direct from a camera phone, but I've not tried this. You can buy a colour LCD for it so that you can preview pictures before you print ...
...and it can knock 6x4 prints out in a minute or so. It also has the capability of printing direct onto white coated CD/DVDs if you want to make your Disks look smart! I get my ink from eBay, and this does not seem to massively affect the quality of printouts but is much cheaper. The set up is very straightforward. The printer has a little LCD screen that gives out status messages and other information, so it is worth remembering this before you ... Read review
