The hewlitt packard 500 plus. I do not have a bad word to say about this. the printer is employed in my printing company for producing one off prints large scale and it does the job without any quarms. i have gone through loads of ink cartridges for this which does add up. but the money you can make for your time is well worth it. it is a little slow but if you are going to use it to print plans or like me one off prints it is fine if you can ...

I have never had any problems with this machine at all, I have printed literally hundreds of 60 inch by 40 inch pictures on it, you do have to look after the machine try to keep dust out of it don't put dusty paper rolls in. Try to stick with official paper it does a better job. as for running costs well in my experience based on the ammount of ink I put on a poster: on a 42 inch roll this machine costs in the region of £7 per metre ... This printer is a beast. A bit of overkill for us as it is currently only used by 2 different work stations. We bought this printer as we wanted accurate colours for leaflets and flyers we produced ourselves of photo quality on plain paper - this machine delivers! However delivery of the machine was not as easy - our office is at home and the box only just passed through the front door. It takes two to lift the printer sensibly - or one brave strong ...

Disadvantages: quite slow to print, but worth the wait, double sided printing requires accessory, more cost

...photos, thank heavens I found HP Photosmart, it is quieter than the other two, easy to connect to computer, has four slots for different media cards thank heavens, (I have just changed digital camera, new one has stick and not card as previous camera) I am also able to download photos for friends and family with different type of media. ...very surprised at the amount of photos plus printing that I obtained from the cartridge, so not as expensive as first thought. Most of the time I find I can use 'normal mode' for printing photos, sometime 'Best mode' has too much ink, unlike my previous printer which always had to be in best mode. obviously this saves on ink, trial and error will soon make sure you use the correct mode. Well what can i say i bought this printer when i was out looking for something to replace my old knackered printer. I was looking for something cheap but which would allow me to print basic documents and graphics. Well im pleased to say i found those features in this printer and more! ...when put on my wall look great! The printer takes standard well known cartridges which can be bought at almost any stockist of computer related equipment at very competitive prices! The cartridges also dont run out too quickly which was a surprise as they are quite small! ...had broken. I have a Canon camera and know that Canon is a good well know brand. It also looks nice and modern and has a nice shiny black finish. For the jobs that I want it to do at the moment, it performs well, although I am hoping to print out some large photo prints in the near future, so will be upgrading. For standard photos and written documents, it does the job nicely, although some of the colours on the photos did not come out the same ...
...the printer itself, as my PC may not be set up correctly. The disadvantage is the amount of ink it uses. I have never used so much over the last few months,especially if you are printing out photos - it is not a cheap option. Much cheaper to get them done at processing lab or online.
