Release the Beast!
Review of HP Business Inkjet 3000 by
random8
Advantages: Fast, accurate colours, great photos, separate colour cartridges
Disadvantages: Huge, hand feed tray tricky to use
This printer is a beast. A bit of overkill for us as it is currently only used by 2 different work stations. We bought this printer as we wanted accurate colours for leaflets and flyers we produced ourselves of photo quality on plain paper - this machine delivers!
However delivery of the machine was not as easy - our office is at home and the box only just passed through the front door. It takes two to lift the printer sensibly - or one brave strong ... ...with wheels so that we can move it easily, although this is just for cleaning behind it occasionally. This machine prints accurately and clearly on all types of paper we have used from 60g copy paper to card, from tape labels to transparancy.
We have owned this machine for over 3 years and have never had to call anyone out - just what you expect from HP.
The cartridges are extremely easy to change - you just open a hatch on the side of the front ...

Good quality A3 Inkjet Printer
Review of HP Color Inkjet Cp1700 by
sallysmith1973
Advantages: Fast A4 & A3 printing, good quality from HP
Disadvantages: Large in size
...We had always purchased HP products before, as they have proved themselves to be value for money as far as long service and reliability is concerned.
This printer is available in three configurations; The CP1700 is a standard A3 inkjet photo quality printer; the CP1700d is the same model, but comes with a 'duplex unit' which enables you to print documents double sided; the CP1700ps is a 'postscript edition' that comes with 'Adobe Postscript' software ... ...our brochures we like to print two sided, and it works very well.
The paper tray holds a resonable amount of paper - tray 1 (included) can hold up to 150 pages, whereas an additional tray 2 can be purchased which holds an additional 250 sheets.
Set up was easy, using the driver disk provided. You can connect this printer either by a USB or parallel connection. Bear in mind a cable is not provided so you will have to purchase whichever you prefer, ...

Small businesses with this service ethos?
Review of Canon Business Inkjet BIJ-1300 by
Kaisersousa
Advantages: Says what it does on the box - cheapish to run
Disadvantages: Canon After sales service for small businesses
...concerned me.
Whilst checking out Canon I came across this model and on paper was quite impressed - an inkjet (bubble jet) that could theoretically do what we needed at a much cheaper cost to run than a colour laser printer.
So impressed was I that I bought two (2) of these printers, albeit one was a demo model with no printer head or any ink cartridges (I bought this latter one at a very discounted price)
Pros:
I must say that with the printer ... ...the cons: (1) Original Canon ink tank cartridge consumables for the BIJ 1300 are overpriced and extremely expensive. In fact a set of these (4 colours) will cost you nearly as much as the printer (£36 for black, £30 for each colour =£148 incl VAT + delivery) .
(2) They are extremely hard to find and Canon's website doesn't help in many ways. You will find it difficulty, near impossible to get it with UK online sellers, only via Canon itself
(3) ...

Bulky Inkjet Printer
Review of HP Color Inkjet Cp1700d by
spooked
Advantages: Good speed and clear prints
Disadvantages: Very bulky - no longer in production
HP no longer manufactures this product but you should be able to pick one up easily enough. My experience of this printer is through work where we have several dotted around in standalone and networked mode. They are quite big and bulky as they are designed to accommodate A3 paper as well as the usual assortment of A4 stationary.
The printer requires 4 ink cartridges, black, cyan, magenta and yellow and also 4 print head cartridges of the same colour ... ...as you would expect from HP and the print speed is up to 16 ppm black and 14 ppm colour. The resolution is 2400 x 1200 dpi and it has a 150 Sheet Input Capacity. On board memory is 16MB and you have a choice of USB and Parallel connection.
The printer comes with a 1 year limited warrant but in my experience the printer usually starts to go wrong a week or two after this has expired.
In my opinion, there are much better (and smaller) printers on ...
