Possibly the Printer Bargain of the Century
Review of APOLLO P-2100U by
james68
Advantages: CHEAP! Good colour and monochrome printing quality. Fairly quick.
Disadvantages: Barely satisfactory colour photos (but what do you expect for £30!)
...optional colour photo cartridge. The Apollo is capable of 600 x 600 dpi at best (monochrome) and 600 x 300 dpi (colour).
The cartridges are reasonably priced, and can be easily refilled I'm told (no nasty chip to reprogram either).
Incidentally, for support and drivers (Windows 98, ME, 2000) go to:

You do not need to download additional XP drivers since they are already built-in to ...

Good to start off, but does not last
Review of HP Deskjet 340 by
tcumming
Advantages: Portable, tough and solid, easy to use
Disadvantages: Paper feeder, cartridges dry up, Windows XP drivers
...driver for XP on the HP website. Although there is one supplied with XP, it has a serious bug, which is that every few pages or so it starts plonking random control codes all over the page. On the flip side however, support for older operating systems is good: it does support Windows 3.1, MS-DOS and older Macintosh systems, and the Psion organisers also have inbuilt drivers for the machine. ...

Is it on? I can hardly hear it!
Review of HP Deskjet 920c by

Advantages: whisper quiet, easy to change ink
Disadvantages: quite slow, expensive ink
...it.”
“What happened to the HP printer?”
“It’s in that cupboard, it has been since you left”
Well, I couldn’t allow this gorgeous piece of kit to languish away in the cupboard! I remembered printing stuff off on this at work, and being jealous when I got home to my crappy old Epson, so I asked if I could have it. Luckily for me, he used it as an incentive to get me to go back to work (it is nice to be wanted) so I fished it from the cupboard, brought ... ...ever paid for was this HP one, which I could splash out a bit on, as it wasn’t my money. At the time of buying, the only thing that mattered was that I was going to be able to install it on the ancient laptop lent to us by Leeds University, which didn’t have a CD-rom or a USB cable.
Now, I might be accused of writing to formula here, but I wrote these two printer reviews at similar times, and as they’re both for the same product, then surely the ...

Out of date
Review of HP 2000 C by
murban
Advantages: Great quality, very fast, looks great, good windows driver.
Disadvantages: Expensive to buy and to upkeep, mine broke after 2 years, no longer supported by HP.
The HP 2000C was once (and still is) a very good printer. If you already own one you will know this - it has excellent print quality, it is fast and it looks great. The driver is also very useful and it has few problems day-to-day. However, this printer was never really a winner - because of it's price. It is beaten by epson models costing well under £200.
The printer uses 4 cartridges - Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (CMYK). This is a feature ... ...The cartridges are the new HP number 10 cartridges, which are super inteligent due to the microchip within, and can provide detailed ink level information, as well as expiry dates etc. The one problem with this is a price. Each cartridge costs £25 - meaning that refilling the printer costs £100! Cartridges come with the printer, although when you buy a new black one you'll find it's twice the size of the one that comes in the printer. Although cartriges ...

Very out-dated
Review of HP Deskjet 400 by
Don_Rustone
Advantages: Price, size
Disadvantages: Everything else : Quality, reliabilty, speed, ease of use
This printer is unfortunately not the best around. While there are some positive aspects, the negatives far out weigh these. It is now quite an old printer, and so is certainly not up to the standards of today.
Installation of this printer on anything above Windows ’95 is a nightmare. There is CD, but instead two diskettes for installation. What’s worse is that you can’t just use a default printer profile, it has to be the HP400 and drivers, otherwise ... ...serial port, so is nowhere near as easy to set-up on the fly as a modern USB one.
The Picture quality is about average, although it is probably slightly lower than that. Black and White printing it can handle quite well, and produces reasonably sharp images. Colour however is not advised. Not only does the ink tank need to be changed from Black to Colour, as it only takes one at a time, but the quality is rather poor.
Printing speed is another ...
