Pixma brains which printer to have.
Review of Canon PIXMA IP90 by GWJ270967

Advantages: comact, stylish, good brand reputation
Disadvantages: infa red slow, is heavy when used with battery

...to buy an old canon bjc 80 or the likes. I then went onto ebay and searched for a portable printer, you can imagine all the junk that came up and then I saw it, the Canon Pixma IP90, looking very stylish, so like everything else I buy I searched the internet for information on it, and all the reviews I found were positive, albeit the printer was a bit pricey at £199 but I was not swayed and and kept hunting for the best price, in the end I bought ...
...for the pair for original canon but you can get generic replacements for a fraction of the cost, I personally use the original ones, but again I don't print hundreds of pages, just the average family use so it doesn't hurt me when I have to replace them. The print quality is really good from a compact ink jet printer, good enough to print decent charts, documents and even photos. The canon boasts print speeds of upto 16 pages per minute, this must ... Read review

A good portable solution
Review of Canon i 80 by flooda

Advantages: Lightweight. Good print quality for both text and photos.
Disadvantages: A bit expensive.

...well pleased with the new Canon i80 portable jet printer that my company supplied me with a few months ago. It’s about half the weight (2.2kg) of its competitors, and this includes a spare battery pack. So while it’s not exactly lightweight it’s easy enough to carry. The top cover of the printer doubles up as a paper stand when you’re using it, and you can load in about a dozen sheets of paper at a time. It copes admirably with both plain text and ...
...standard A4 black text page, and about a minute for a high- resolution photograph. The maximum resolution for photographs is 4800x1200 dots per inch (dpi) that gives you pictures that are perfectly clear and crisp. The battery takes about 2 hours to charge fully, and is good for printing 400 black text pages before it starts to complain. I also have the power unit for use in the car that allows me to power the printer or charge the battery using ... Read review

A printer good for home use
Review of Canon PIXMA IP2500 by Sweetpea1075

Advantages: Inexpensive, Nice design, modern looking, OK for everyday use
Disadvantages: Noisy, takes ages to start up, goes through ink quickly

...had broken. I have a Canon camera and know that Canon is a good well know brand. It also looks nice and modern and has a nice shiny black finish. For the jobs that I want it to do at the moment, it performs well, although I am hoping to print out some large photo prints in the near future, so will be upgrading. For standard photos and written documents, it does the job nicely, although some of the colours on the photos did not come out the same ...
...the printer itself, as my PC may not be set up correctly. The disadvantage is the amount of ink it uses. I have never used so much over the last few months, especially if you are printing out photos - it is not a cheap option. Much cheaper to get them done at processing lab or online. The ink is not cheap for this printer either, compared with other similar printers. Although I have found that even when it says it is empty, there is still actually ... Read review

A good printer with added "bits"
Review of Epson Stylus Photo R300 by Carrotts73

Advantages: good print quality, cheap copy cartridges, stand alone if needed
Disadvantages: none really

The Epson R300 is a good low cost Photo Printer. It has lots of useful features, for instance you can print direct from a camera, or pop a memory card into the reader on the front. If you're connected to a PC then it can use the memory card reader as well. It is also possible to attach a Bluetooth module and print direct from a camera phone, but I've not tried this. You can buy a colour LCD for it so that you can preview pictures before you print ...
...and it can knock 6x4 prints out in a minute or so. It also has the capability of printing direct onto white coated CD/DVDs if you want to make your Disks look smart! I get my ink from eBay, and this does not seem to massively affect the quality of printouts but is much cheaper. The set up is very straightforward. The printer has a little LCD screen that gives out status messages and other information, so it is worth remembering this before you ... Read review
