Great when you have to have that photo feel
Review of Olympus P 400 by
hawklady99
Advantages: Beautiful continuous tone, photo quality prints, great "feel" to prints fun to watch print
Disadvantages: cost, proprietary papers and ribbons, lack of wide color gamut, max-print size 7.64 x 10.146"
While the Olympus P-400, dye sublimation printer makes one heck of a nice photo print with all the look and feel of prints you'd get straight from Kodak, it is one expensive peripheral. It's definitely not for everyone. To give you some idea where I'm coming from in my comparison of this printer to inkjets, I have an Epson 1520 and an Epson 1270 as well as a Okidata laser. I've done actual photo file comparisons between several HP, Olympus and Epson ... ...printers. Anyway, the Olympus printer uses a completely different technology that either traditional inkjet or laser printers, utilizing heat transfer of the color pigment from a ribbon. It does this in a 4 pass process (three color YRB and the final pass puts down a clear protective coat) It's a blast to watch it print. Each full size print takes about 90 seconds (according to the manufacturer, I see it taking slightly longer ~120 seconds per print) ...

Lexmark is very reliable
Review of Lexmark X3580 by
lulabell87
Advantages: wifi, screen
Disadvantages: 2 separate ink cartridges
...ago, i have always had lexmark printers, and i really liked the design of this one. It is an all in one, so a printer, scanner and copier, and the price ranges from around £30-50 which i think is reasonably good value for money. It takes two print cartridges, one black on colour, the numbers are 3 and 4 cartridges respectively, which are also fairly cheap. at between £13-18 depending on where you purchase them, I find the fact that it has separate ... ...just have one cartridge for both, as i personally use a lot more black than colour, so i only have to replace whichever one is needed as opposed to the whole cartridge, when there may still be colour ink left in it. It has an extendable tray which you can pull out while it is printing to catch the paper, and the buttons are easy to use. It was also very easy to install, with no major problems arising. It also has a good warning system of when the ...

Canon Pixma mp 460 - Fantastic all in one
Review of Canon Pixma MP460 by
panther23
Advantages: lcd display, durability, optional Bluetooth connection, qualitys, speed, design, functionality, rich software, reliability
Disadvantages: could be litle smaller
...mode is much quieter.
Canon has a number of standard, automatic cleaning procedures:
- standard cleaning eliminating unwanted smudges and lines in the print result
- Deep cleaning unclogging nozzles that can not be cleaned by regular cleaning
- Bottom plate cleaning which prevents paper smudges during printing
- Roller cleaning gives smoother paper feeding
Ink (Canon FINE (Full-lithography inkjet Nozzle Engineering) - 4-ink)
Inks does what ... ...outs. My one lasts for 8 months already and still did not have to replace them. Fact is that I' am not a printing maniac. I use them only when I need them. It is about 3-5 times a week. The cost of new ink varies from capacity. There are different options available on a market. That is good as you can suit size to your budget or if printing a lot buy bigger ink. Black costs about £11 and colour £16. For me it is not expensive. Quality costs.

Canon Pixma iP4300 Printer
Review of Canon PIXMA iP 4300 by
kindlyraccoon
Advantages: Two paper trays. Ability to print onto CD discs. Quiet
Disadvantages: Cost of original cartridges.
When I first bought the canon printer and got it out of the box, I felt that I had a printer that was sturdy and solid. The reason why a lot of people complain when they are in the shop is that there is never a cable with the printer. Again this is no exception. So either you buy a new one or hopefully, like me you had one from your last printer. The black and silver trim make it look quite smart, making you want to leave it out in the open. Really ... ...At first the cartridges from Canon were ok but I find at £8 each it does get expensive. I started to use compatible ones. Now then, if you go this route, people say that they break the printer. I have found this not to be true in my situation. The problem is when you have to change the chip over from one cartridge to another. A little tool is provided to remove the chip and some double sided tape for sticking it back on the new one. I have had a ...

Disadvantages: Slightly bulky design
