Canon consumables are horribly expensive but you can get some good deals on ebay etc. The quality of your prints will be very affected by the grade of paper that you choose. I have found that Canon Paper Pro gives the best results and the next grade down (super glossy) is good for the sizes that Paper Pro does not come in. The best thing I've found about it is that I don't have to fork out over £20 for a cartridge at a time, instead the choice that having individual cartridges means that I pay around £9 a time for colour and £11 for black.
