Its' Worth the Effort
Review of Canon PIXMA IX4000 by RichPrice

Advantages: The quality of the Photo printing and it prints to A3
Disadvantages: Setting it up

I bought a Canon Pixma ix4000 about three months ago. I'm not a technical expert, either in computers or in printers, so this review may be bit lacking in some technical details. I already have a Sharp AL1457D (a multi purpose laser printer, scanner and copier) which I use for most day to day printing. The sharp only prints out onto A4 and is Black and white. I like taking photographs so I set out to buy an extra printer that was good for photographs ...
...(sods law really). The Canon meets all of my needs. It prints up to A3, fairly quickly (if its' B&W). it prints excellent quality photographs (both colour and black and white), to look at them you would think that they were produced by a Professional photo lab, they are that good. I take lots of digital photos using a Canon EOS 300D. The printer produces picture quality that is just incredible, the subtlety of tones are great. I took some photos ... Read review

Review of Canon PIXMA IX5000 by roberto900

Advantages: Good brand, good quality photo prints at speed, good value ink.
Disadvantages: Was pricey but is coming down now.

...terms of print material. The Canon "FINE" technology allows this product to deliver up to a 4800 x 1200 droplets per inch print resolution and on high quality paper gives stunning results, even on borderless printing straight from a digital camera. Speed of Print Speed is another area where this printer is of a very good standard, even by modern standards of high quality print speed. In standard mode for A4 paper it prints about 25 sheets ...
...ink is important and while Canon cannot argue that they have the cheapest of cartridges, they can offer a competitive product at a good value for money price. In my opinion they offer a good deal considering the lenght of time that a carteridge typically lasts and also considering the quality of the product produced by such a brand. Canon boast two key aspects to their ink, the "single ink" system which it claims puts emphasis upon economy and makes ... Read review

Canon Can Do It!
Review of Canon i 560 by woof45

Advantages: Brilliant Prints, Individual Cartridges, Good Tech.Support
Disadvantages: Sometimes hard to find cartridges

...It has a connection for Canon cameras that have the some connection. USB connection Power lead. Individual cartridges. The best thing I've found about it is that I don't have to fork out over £20 for a cartridge at a time, instead the choice that having individual cartridges means that I pay around £9 a time for colour and £11 for black. The print quality is fantastic and its easy to choose which settings you need. It also has the ability in ...
...much more. The only problem I have ever found is that sometimes it can be hard to find the cartridges, this was a particular problem when I first got it but now its a little older its easier. The print quality is amazing, I was so impressed, the tech support is great too. There are drivers to download for free on the internet which helps a great deal, especially if you use it for one or more computers and/or lose the CD with the drivers on. When ... Read review

...assumes you will be using Canon photo paper at all times, and optimises the print quality for this. Oddly, the wizard does not include all the papers Canon supply, but selection of the nearest likely seems to work well. Print quality is excellent. Despite the use of a 3 colour system, in place of the 4 colour one a professional would use, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference. A black and white letter can be printed in a similar time ...
...the "go" button, and your Canon software will auto recognise what you are trying to do, import the scanned image, and then print it on your new media without any further adjustment. It's as close to magic as any software I've ever seen. Just a word of warning when printing onto a DVD/CD - make sure the disc is pressed down into it's holder, else it may clash with the print head. The Canon software also installs a small toolbar in Internet Explorer ... Read review

Good quality + CD/DVD printing
Review of Canon PIXMA IP4200 by cpennington

Advantages: economical
Disadvantages: A bit of messing around to use third party cartidges

I have had this printer for over a year now - I bought it when they had just hit the market. Looking at the price now brings a tear to my eye (£54 is an absolute bargain). I shopped around at the time & paid around £90. Cartridges were a bit expensive, but third party cartridges are now available & remember that the use of four separate ink tanks prevents a lot of wastage. The installation of third party cartridges does require the removal & refitting ...
...is logged by the printer - so bye bye warranty! I would say it is quite economical with the ink - I have only replaced the cartridges a couple of times & it does see a reasonable amount of use. If you use the bottom paper cartridge, the lid can stay closed & it looks really neat on the desk. Major benefit is the direct printing of CD/DVD's. Amazing quality. I don't tend to use the printer for photo printing a great deal - but when I have the quality ... Read review
