Pixma brains which printer to have.
Review of Canon PIXMA IP90 by
GWJ270967
Advantages: comact, stylish, good brand reputation
Disadvantages: infa red slow, is heavy when used with battery
...to buy an old canon bjc 80 or the likes.
I then went onto ebay and searched for a portable printer, you can imagine all the junk that came up and then I saw it, the Canon Pixma IP90, looking very stylish, so like everything else I buy I searched the internet for information on it, and all the reviews I found were positive, albeit the printer was a bit pricey at £199 but I was not swayed and and kept hunting for the best price, in the end I bought ... ...for the pair for original canon but you can get generic replacements for a fraction of the cost, I personally use the original ones, but again I don't print hundreds of pages, just the average family use so it doesn't hurt me when I have to replace them.
The print quality is really good from a compact ink jet printer, good enough to print decent charts, documents and even photos.
The canon boasts print speeds of upto 16 pages per minute, this must ...

Great A3 Printer (upd 06/05/07)
Review of HP Deskjet 1280 by
intelligents
Advantages: excellent photo and text quality, easy to use, cheap running costs
Disadvantages: slow, no borderless A3, not much A3 paper choice, longevity of prints
...I bought some good quality HP A4 photo paper to start with and the colour accuracy - to what it was on my computer screen - was amazing. It was exactly right. Some printers you can spend ages getting the print to look as it does on screen. So far, very impressed. A3 next. I looked around for A3 paper and was a bit disappointed with the choice. Canon and Epson have A3 paper readily available, but I couldn't find any HP A3 paper in shops. I don't like ... ...the images produced from the HP are just as sharp, if not sharper in some cases. This printer has 4800x1200 dpi, my Canon has 9600x2400 dpi. Certainly black lines in photos were much clearer on my HP than my Canon.
One slightly disappointing this is i can't seem to get a borderless A3 print. Can't find it in the print settings - i think its because its not a 'photo' printer. Some printers on the market are designed as 'photo' printers and so give ...

Canon i350
Review of Canon i 350 by
dotcom1001
Advantages: compact, fast balck and colour print
Disadvantages: ink cartiridges run out quick
The Canon i350 is a small, easy to use and very suitable for home and office use. It is called a bubblejet printer due to the ink coming out in bubbles onto the page and has a better effect than inkjet printers.
With a fairly bid resolution per inch, 4800 x 1200 makes it a good printer for printing photos with or without borders, documents with high resolution pictures and almost anything you can think of.
It has a pretty imperesive print rate ... ...printer and comes with a guarentee.
You can by another ink cartridge every time it runs out but i advise getting them refilled at specail stores as it saves money and the environment.
Overall the Canon i350 is an easy to use printer and ideal for any purpose. ...

Great all-rounder (upd 06/05/07)
Review of Canon PIXMA IP5000 by
intelligents
Advantages: fast, reliable, easy to use, long lasting inks, separate inks, 2 paper feeds
Disadvantages: warm tint to photos, no card reader (doesn't bother me though!)
...from. I always use genuine Canon as i know these are the best. Replacing the cartridges is very easy and the printer tells you when they've run out - it's actually fairly accurate. You can look in the settings at any time to see how much is approx left
The reason for the two blacks is quite simple. One black is designed for photos and the printer automatically uses it when you're printing photos. The other is for text. This cartridge is much higher ... ...The nice thing about the Canon cartridges is, if you don't believe what the computer is telling you, you can take the cartridge out - by simply opening the top of the printer - and see how much ink there is left. Its made of see-through plastic.
The two paper feeds are very useful. If you're used to an Epson printer the top feed will be familiar. If you're used to an HP printer the front feed will be familiar. Personally I keep plain paper in the ...

Good quality + CD/DVD printing
Review of Canon PIXMA IP4200 by
cpennington
Advantages: economical
Disadvantages: A bit of messing around to use third party cartidges
I have had this printer for over a year now - I bought it when they had just hit the market. Looking at the price now brings a tear to my eye (£54 is an absolute bargain). I shopped around at the time & paid around £90.
Cartridges were a bit expensive, but third party cartridges are now available & remember that the use of four separate ink tanks prevents a lot of wastage. The installation of third party cartridges does require the removal & refitting ... ...is logged by the printer - so bye bye warranty!
I would say it is quite economical with the ink - I have only replaced the cartridges a couple of times & it does see a reasonable amount of use. If you use the bottom paper cartridge, the lid can stay closed & it looks really neat on the desk.
Major benefit is the direct printing of CD/DVD's. Amazing quality.
I don't tend to use the printer for photo printing a great deal - but when I have the quality ...
