I bought this printer about three years ago because I wanted a machine that would produce good quality black and white prints, and that is indeed what it does, so no complaints on that front. ...my previous review of the Brother HL-1450, you probably thought that Brother couldn't make a worse printer, but somehow they have managed it with the HL-1270N. Where I rated the HL-1450 as a dog, the HL-1270N is a pure bred mongrel. In appearance, the HL-1450 is almost exactly the same as any of Brother's range of desktop laser printers. ...terms of print quality the Brother is nothing special; this is a budget mono laser printer and is really designed for little more than printing letters. ...I do like is that Brother give you device drivers on 3.5inch floppy disks. Many manufactureres dont do this. The printer itself it a heavy little beast . It has a lower paper input tray and a upper hand fed tray which is useful for printing those envelopes without having to take out your A4 paper.
