...the images produced from the HP are just as sharp, if not sharper in some cases. This printer has 4800x1200 dpi, my Canon has 9600x2400 dpi. Certainly black lines in photos were much clearer on my HP than my Canon. One slightly disappointing this is i can't seem to get a borderless A3 print. Disadvantages: A bit of messing around to use third party cartidges

I have had this printer for over a year now - I bought it when they had just hit the market. Looking at the price now brings a tear to my eye (£54 is an absolute bargain). I shopped around at the time & paid around £90. Cartridges were a bit expensive, but third party cartridges are now available & remember that the use of four separate ink tanks prevents a lot of wastage. The installation of third party cartridges does require the removal & refitting ...
...is logged by the printer - so bye bye warranty! I would say it is quite economical with the ink - I have only replaced the cartridges a couple of times & it does see a reasonable amount of use. If you use the bottom paper cartridge, the lid can stay closed & it looks really neat on the desk. Major benefit is the direct printing of CD/DVD's. Amazing quality.
