Great when you have to have that photo feel
Review of Olympus P 400 by
hawklady99
Advantages: Beautiful continuous tone, photo quality prints, great "feel" to prints fun to watch print
Disadvantages: cost, proprietary papers and ribbons, lack of wide color gamut, max-print size 7.64 x 10.146"
While the Olympus P-400, dye sublimation printer makes one heck of a nice photo print with all the look and feel of prints you'd get straight from Kodak, it is one expensive peripheral. It's definitely not for everyone. To give you some idea where I'm coming from in my comparison of this printer to inkjets, I have an Epson 1520 and an Epson 1270 as well as a Okidata laser. I've done actual photo file comparisons between several HP, Olympus and Epson ... ...printers. Anyway, the Olympus printer uses a completely different technology that either traditional inkjet or laser printers, utilizing heat transfer of the color pigment from a ribbon. It does this in a 4 pass process (three color YRB and the final pass puts down a clear protective coat) It's a blast to watch it print. Each full size print takes about 90 seconds (according to the manufacturer, I see it taking slightly longer ~120 seconds per print) ...

I have a real thing about Oki printers !!
Review of OKI C 5650n by
netgekko
Advantages: Print quality is great
Disadvantages: Would be good if it came with a duplex
...have a real thing about Oki printers, they are well made, solid reliable printers, but the main bonus is there print quality, it really is first class.
If you are looking for a quality print at a reasonable cost Oki is the place to start, and the Oki C 5650n is no exception.
This printer is a good workgroup printer, it is network ready, however a duplex would be nice.
The Oki C 5650n would be the Rolls-Royce of home printers, more than enough ...

The neat HP LaserJet P1505
Review of HP LaserJet P1505 by
netgekko
Advantages: Small Reliable and easy to use
Disadvantages: There isnt any
The H.P. LaserJet P1505 is an ideal desktop printer for the small or home office setup, great if you're fed up with the running costs of replacing ink cartridges in an ink based printer. The LaserJet P1505 is a small mono printer with a big toner cartridge so it won't take long to start saving money on running costs.
Quality is good with crisp clean results.
The P1505 is a very simple printer in every way, its easy to setup and use, there is also ...

The LaserJet 2605dtn has style
Review of HP Color LaserJet 2605dtn by
netgekko
Advantages: Inexpensive double sided colour printing on a network
Disadvantages: Can't think of any
The HP Colour LaserJet 2605dtn is a good little printer, the colour printing is good quality and fast. It is the ideal home or small office printer, the paper tray on the LJ2605 is small so required topping up constantly with paper, however the extra tray on this LJ2605dtn is a real bonus, and also allows the user to load two different paper types into the trays.
The LJ2605dtn is easy to use and the instructions on the led screen are simple and ... ...small side though.
Being an Hewlett Packard makes it easy to maintain, parts for this printer are reasonable priced and readily available, having said that I have had no real problems with this printer although the little paper holder on the output tray is a bit flimsy.
Quality is good but not fast. I like this printer and would recommend it to users at home or the small office ...

The reliable HP LaserJet 4250dtn
Review of HP LaserJet 4250dtn by
netgekko
Advantages: Networkable double sided printing with a small footprint
Disadvantages: There isnt one, I like this printer.
This is a great workhorse printer from H.P. its fast with clear, crisp print results, the extra paper tray is useful for having plain and letter headed paper ready to print, or even different sizes.
Easily networkable, and the duplex is fast without paper jams which seems to happen often on other machines I've used.
This machine has a small footprint so if space is at a premium in your office but the workload is high, this might be the printer ... ...and if the LJ4250dtn develops any faults H.P. parts are cheaper and more easily available than most.
There is one fault I am aware of with this machine relating to the duplex unit, if you expect to do a lot of double sided printing, it has a habit of becoming a bit noisy; there is a cog that wears under the extra load caused by the duplex. However this is very minor and can be fixed easily.
Having said that I really rate this printer, and would ...
