Quality over Quantity
Review of HP OfficeJet K7100 by
joe-survey
Advantages: Great quality
Disadvantages: Slow, high cost
...printer in question was the HP OfficeJet K7100. It retails around £190 and was of far higher quality than the other school printers. My experience
I was printing one black and white sheet of guitar tablature. There was not a lot of printing to be done and i expected it to be out by the time reached the printer. This, however, was not the case. It didn't take too long but for what i was printing i thought it was a while. (It took around 40 seconds). ... ...plain sheet, but from past experience i know it can print in very good quality. A full colour sheet will come out in great detail and it can print photographs in great detail too. The only thing i will say was that it was a little smudged. Whether that was me or not i am not sure. It cost me 5p for a black and white sheet, although this was through the school. The real cost is listed below. I was very happy with my Media practical, a music magazine, ...

Not for photographers
Review of HP OfficeJet Pro K5400dn by
joe-survey
Advantages: Cheap printing
Disadvantages: Not great quality photos
...OfficeJet Pro K5400
The HP OfficeJet Pro K5400 is a low cost, colour, inkjet, printer. It is aimed at small businesses and is a pretty basic printer. If you need to scan or copy then this is not for you but it will produce low cost prints. I used this printer when i printed some ICT coursework from my teachers office. The text sheets came out well and with reasonable speed. Next was a powerpoint presentation in handout form. This was a colur print. ... ...Printing costs
HP sells standard and high capacity tanks. The standard have less ink in them and so they cost more per copy to print.
Black and white - Standard 820 page - £12 (Exc VAT)
High Capacity 2,350 page - £20 (Exc VAT)
Colour - Standard 620 page - £8 (Exc VAT)
High capacity 1,200 page - £14 (Exc VAT)
This works out at 1.46p for standard black (0.85p with high capacity) and 5.33p for a colour page (4.45 for high capacity)
Technical ...

Quality infront of quantity
Review of HP PhotoSmart Pro B8350 by
ironie
Advantages: high quality photographs with vibrant colours and good contrast
Disadvantages: inks are 6 colours in 2 cartridges
...and apparently when printed onto HP premium plus photo paper will last around 100 years – although I obviously can’t verify this! These inks use dyes rather than pigments and give a smooth, uniform high-gloss finish on glossy photo papers.
The Photosmart Pro splits 6 colours between 2 cartridges;
1st cartridge contains yellow, cyan and magenta 2nd cartridge contains light cyan, light magenta and black It is also possible to replace a cartridge ... ...photo best The HP Photosmart Pro B8350 comes with its drivers and utilities and an electronic user guide. It also comes with HP Photosmart Premiere software which includes the ability to edit pictures before you print them; active preview enables you to make last minute adjustments to a photo before printing. You are able to remove red eye and green-eye (pets), sharpen photographs and improve colour. Adaptive lighting technology balances relationships ...

Another Workhorse from HP
Review of HP Deskjet 6940 by
PeterSt1954
Advantages: Solid all-round general printer.
Disadvantages: Not cheap and photographic printing unspectacular.
...printer you would expect from HP - with very easy connection through USB. Quality of output on ordinary paper with standard cartridges is very good and, on the correct paper with the photographic cartridges, sufficient for reasonably good photographs. The lack of manual adjustment for alignment (or very little else) is a little alarming, but the automatic systems do work. Overall the 6940 (for an inkjet printer) is economical with cartridges - even ... ...when you eventually have to replace them. The black cartridge refills easily (although I've never tried it with the colour cartridge). Doesn't like particularly thick or rigid card. Looks like a high price for the specs - even at £80 - but it is quality kit. If you don't really need best quality photographic printing but a good, no frills, hardworking colour printer that will happily churn out decent printing (including good colour photographs) for ...

Great performance from a well built machine
Review of HP Deskjet 6980 by
stephenk
Advantages: Good quality printing, looks great, great connectivity
Disadvantages: Slow wireless, bulky
...get this level of quality, HP have had to compromise on size and weight. A hefty 6.4kg, and measuring 36.7 cm deep means most people will have to take advantage of the wireless capabilities and place it away from their computer.
HP have done well offering a wide range of connectivity options - WiFi, USB and ethernet results in a printer that can be used in both homes and businesses. At home, I have set the printer up for wireless printing. The process ... ...if you shop around for HP ink you can find some bargains. At this point I must mention the slow wireless connection times I notice when printing. After sending the print job, it can take up to 20 seconds for the 6980 to begin printing (802.11G standard wireless). This may be an isolated incident, but it has been occuring ever since my installation.
The printer accepts a wide range of media, and this means its easy to print your envelopes, labels, ...
