not fab, but good for the money
Review of HP LaserJet P1005 by princesslaura

Advantages: not too big, quiet
Disadvantages: not a fantastic printer

...husband has been using the HP Laserjet P1005 at work for the past few months. His [much more expensive] laserjet broke down and he was quite put out to receive this in return! Amazon charges £69.75 for this product [with free delivery within the UK]. At this price you know that the printer is not going to be top of the range, however, it's not total rubbish by any means. It prints at speeds of up to 14ppm [which is no good for high volume printing ...
...1200-dpi. It has a 133 MHz processor and 2 MB of memory. One advantage of this printer is that it is fairly small in comparison to many others on the market [which saves on valuable deskspace - more room for coffee cups!]. It is also quite quiet [my husband's last printer sounded like an aircraft taking off whenever it was turned on]. It comes with a 150 sheet input tray, which I would consider adequate for most home use. Hi-speed USB 2.0 connectivity ... Read review

Ideal for wired home networks & students
Review of HP LaserJet P2015dn by piratess2104

Advantages: Reliability; specification dpi; trustworthy model; size
Disadvantages: Weight; installation difficulties a possibility

...for a second-hand printer, the HP LaserJet 4000n is generally good for home environments, especially those where a family has to share study space: it doesn't take up too much room on a desk, and the fact that the paper comes out the top means that you won't have your nice smooth copies smudging each other or spilling onto the floor. The HP LaserJet 4000n may also have a role to play in small business, but only if your company has a LAN connection ...
...up for yourself on the HP helpline. Fortunately, their technical support is generally pretty good in the UK and Europe. I am told it is also good in the USA, but don't have personal confirmation of this. Do also consider the weight of the printer: a not-inconsiderable 17.8 kg (about the weight of a six-year-old child). -- SPECIFICATION -- In all honesty, wired network printers have had their day, but as wired printers go, this one is good. It has ... Read review

The neat HP LaserJet P1505
Review of HP LaserJet P1505 by netgekko

Advantages: Small Reliable and easy to use
Disadvantages: There isnt any

The H.P. LaserJet P1505 is an ideal desktop printer for the small or home office setup, great if you're fed up with the running costs of replacing ink cartridges in an ink based printer. The LaserJet P1505 is a small mono printer with a big toner cartridge so it won't take long to start saving money on running costs. Quality is good with crisp clean results. The P1505 is a very simple printer in every way, its easy to setup and use, there is also ... Read review

A printer good for home use
Review of Canon PIXMA IP2500 by Sweetpea1075

Advantages: Inexpensive, Nice design, modern looking, OK for everyday use
Disadvantages: Noisy, takes ages to start up, goes through ink quickly

...had broken. I have a Canon camera and know that Canon is a good well know brand. It also looks nice and modern and has a nice shiny black finish. For the jobs that I want it to do at the moment, it performs well, although I am hoping to print out some large photo prints in the near future, so will be upgrading. For standard photos and written documents, it does the job nicely, although some of the colours on the photos did not come out the same ...
...the printer itself, as my PC may not be set up correctly. The disadvantage is the amount of ink it uses. I have never used so much over the last few months, especially if you are printing out photos - it is not a cheap option. Much cheaper to get them done at processing lab or online. The ink is not cheap for this printer either, compared with other similar printers. Although I have found that even when it says it is empty, there is still actually ... Read review

A good printer with added "bits"
Review of Epson Stylus Photo R300 by Carrotts73

Advantages: good print quality, cheap copy cartridges, stand alone if needed
Disadvantages: none really

The Epson R300 is a good low cost Photo Printer. It has lots of useful features, for instance you can print direct from a camera, or pop a memory card into the reader on the front. If you're connected to a PC then it can use the memory card reader as well. It is also possible to attach a Bluetooth module and print direct from a camera phone, but I've not tried this. You can buy a colour LCD for it so that you can preview pictures before you print ...
...and it can knock 6x4 prints out in a minute or so. It also has the capability of printing direct onto white coated CD/DVDs if you want to make your Disks look smart! I get my ink from eBay, and this does not seem to massively affect the quality of printouts but is much cheaper. The set up is very straightforward. The printer has a little LCD screen that gives out status messages and other information, so it is worth remembering this before you ... Read review
