A solid workhorse of a printer, it lacks some of the features of more modern printers but still produces very good results. You only need the LCD screen and memory card slots that modern printers have if you have no desire to make the best of your prints. Our Epson Stylus C46 was bought 3 or 4 years ago as a standby printer, as our Epson CX3200 was showing signs of advancing age. For the jobs that I want it to do at the moment, it performs well, although I am hoping to print out some large photo prints in the near future, so will be upgrading. ...the printer itself, as my PC may not be set up correctly. The disadvantage is the amount of ink it uses. I have never used so much over the last few months,especially if you are printing out photos - it is not a cheap option. Much cheaper to get them done at processing lab or online. The Epson R300 is a good low cost Photo Printer. It has lots of useful features, for instance you can print direct from a camera, or pop a memory card into the reader on the front. If you're connected to a PC then it can use the memory card reader as well. It is also possible to attach a Bluetooth module and print direct from a camera phone, but I've not tried this. You can buy a colour LCD for it so that you can preview pictures before you print ...
...and it can knock 6x4 prints out in a minute or so. It also has the capability of printing direct onto white coated CD/DVDs if you want to make your Disks look smart!
