A not very good machine
Review of Lexmark Z 640 by
milc03
Advantages: Cheap, prints
Disadvantages: Breaks, low printing, not good colour
I bought this printer a couple of years ago and since then it has been nothing but trouble. It was OK to start with, printing at a good speed, good colour. But, however after about a year the printing began to become so slow it takes an eternity to print one page. Also, the colour isn't as good as it used to be so we are printing sub-standard things. Recently, the printer has given up completely and we cannot print at all. The printer is quite hard ...

Good value for what it is
Review of Lexmark Z 1420 by
scott1994
Advantages: Looks good, fast print speed
Disadvantages: Average print quality, unsightly power box
This printer is excellent once set-up. It prints quickly, efficiently and without problem on a iMac and a PC. It also comes with excellent software for the PC and is easy to set up via USB. However, when setting up this printer via Wi-fi using a iMac, it is a Nightmare!!
Firstly, the instruction book is useless and didn't cover the problems I encountered. Secondly, the printer kept losing connection with the iMac, and I still don't know why!!!
... ...the like, it was ridiculously hard to configure the printer when it lost connection with the iMac, as i had no way of communicating with the printer!!!
Apart from this, the printer is quite good for the money
It's print quality is reasonably (you aren't going to be able to print photos etc. with it but perfectly good for text etc.)
The print speed is quite good but sometimes, when the server is busy, downloading things or the like, it can be quite ...

Sound performance for minimal investment
Review of Lexmark Z 1320 by
kevstat
Advantages: Easy to use. Replacement ink is easy to find. Above average print quality.
Disadvantages: A bit noisy. Photo print quality isn't the best.
...ink. An all around good product if you're just looking for affordablitiy and general performance. The only downfalls with it are the same as with most Lexmark products...it is a bit noisy and photo print quality isn't the greatest. If photos is your main print project, I'd look elsewhere. ...

It really works it's life!!!
Review of Lexmark Optra E+ by
bcnlondon
Advantages: Very long working life
Disadvantages: Installation might be a pain in the neck!
...PS2 under the name e.g. Lexmark PS2 and once - better printing quality - as a PCL5 under the name Lexmark PCL5 - faster print speed) and try to use it once as a PS2 and once as a PCL5. This will confuse the printer driver which will start printing the printer software code.
For your own protection I strongly suggest you to avoid installing MarkVision (the Lexmark printing control panel facility) which was especially made by Lexmark to drive you ... ...heavy duty printers ever!
Lexmark recommends to print on paper stock of up to 180 gsm, while I have printed - with a little pushing - paper stock of up to 300 gsm with no problems.
If you are a graphic designer, you will find Optra E+ (with PS2 enhancement) ideal for printing in-house newsletters and other mass mailing documents (brochures, flyers etc.). The Optra E+ prints at 15 (heavy graphics + pictures) to 30 (text + simple line art graphics) ...

love a lexmark
Review of Lexmark Z 645 by
thebigc1690
Advantages: cheap and does all the basics very well.
Disadvantages: no frills!
...i use downsatirs and this lexmark comes no where near being able to compete with it, as i use the epson for disc printing photo printing and all sorts which this lexmark just doesnt do.
That aside as i said it was only a second printer fo light work i was looking for and this printer can easily take on that task, its very user friendly and fairly fast. It produces very clear print and images even when the ink is running very low which is one thing ... ...to inferior printing. not so with this printer.
At the very reasonable price of £35 i think i have a very durable, fast, and well equiped printer. The inks as with any printer these days are fairly expensive however we have used replica inks the last 2 times we have had to replace and they have worked perfectly with no loss of performance.
if you are intending to purchase one of these then be sure to shop around as we saw it priced from the £35 ...
