OK for under £40
Review of Lexmark Z 645 by
curious_k
Advantages: cheap, good for black ink, easy to buy cartridges, "low ink" warning
Disadvantages: annoying software, not so good for colour printing or high quality stuff
...this option from within the Lexmark options screen (via Control Panel), unless you like to hear "Printing started!" in chirpy American every time you press print.
Usefully, it'll monitor ink levels and warn you when they get low, with a link to the supplier's website. I get good results generally with black ink, variable with colour (sometimes either the blue or red ink seems to 'cut out'). Occasionally pulls in the paper at a wonky angle, say 1 ...

Lexmark printer - ideal for me?
Review of Lexmark Z 617 by
bublums6
Advantages: easy 2 use, a range of printing techniques
Disadvantages: read on
I bought this printer and it offers good colour quality. As ink ject printer, it is slow but it id good quality and you can print leaflets, flyers as we. The picture quality isn't perfect but it is alright for personal use at home. I found the printing speed average on pictures and document. The colour on output is good as long as your settings are good which you do at the start up. It is easy to use and you connect it by USB and the installation ... ...printed documents and I have faced no problems - a year so far - but with pictures, it is slower and the quality isn't that good so really it is dependent on what function do you want your printer th perform - fast and good quality output or cheaper and slower alternative. ...

good quality cheap printer
Review of Lexmark Z 601 Color Jetprinter by
techymasterj
Advantages: Cheap, good quality, easy to install, shows ink levels, small, compact, USB
Disadvantages: ink is expensive
...disadvantage is the price of Lexmark ink, you could buy another printer for less! There is ways around this. Tesco's also sell there own brand ink which is half the price and of course there are refills. I personally buy ink on EBay very cheapley.
If you are looking for a good quality printer, mainly for home use - I strongly recommend this one. ...

Decent cheap printer
Review of Canon i 320 by
random76
Advantages: Cheap, good quality
Disadvantages: Quite noisy
I spent a fair amount of time researching printers before I bought this one just over a year ago and I am very satisfied with it.
Mostly I use it for text only but I have printed out a short book of pictures with it (as a present) and it was good quality. I’m sure there are better printers, but they are far more expensive. The i320 is a good quality cheap printer. The ink cartridges are fairly cheap too, which is a bonus. I have been using Canon-compatible ... ...yet) without any trouble. It’s not a particularly quiet printer, but neither is it the noisiest I’ve heard. If it’s in your bedroom I wouldn’t leave it printing while you’re in bed, but apart from that it’s not too loud. My only real complaint is that it doesn't come with any kind of tray to catch the printed pages. Apart from that I'd recommend it without hesitation. ...

Cheapest printing you'll ever do
Review of Lexmark Z 640 by
DCISmith
Advantages: Very very VERY cheap to run, if you know what you are doing. Reasonable quality
Disadvantages: No USB cable supplied
Bought for printing out mainly text as I was starting college, upon unboxing I found that there was no black ink cartridge supplied. However, if you scout around amazon, you will find that number 17 and 27 ink cartridges are extremely cheap, so I ordered a no 17 black for around £7. After having done so, the printer was still cheaper than most of the competition.
I now mainly use it for photo printing on glossy 4x6 paper. For this the quality is ... ...of this printer is the refill possibilities. The coloured caps come off the cartridges and they are very easy to refill. I run mine - I kid you not - on food colouring. There is no reason why not, the colours printed are rich and if it ever breaks the print head, the cartridge would have been in the bin long ago so it is no loss (the print head is built in to every cartridge). I have done around 80 4x6 pictures as well as some A4 pictures since buying ...
