Pixma brains which printer to have.
Review of Canon PIXMA IP90 by

Advantages: comact, stylish, good brand reputation
Disadvantages: infa red slow, is heavy when used with battery
...to buy an old canon bjc 80 or the likes.
I then went onto ebay and searched for a portable printer, you can imagine all the junk that came up and then I saw it, the Canon Pixma IP90, looking very stylish, so like everything else I buy I searched the internet for information on it, and all the reviews I found were positive, albeit the printer was a bit pricey at £199 but I was not swayed and and kept hunting for the best price, in the end I bought ... ...for the pair for original canon but you can get generic replacements for a fraction of the cost, I personally use the original ones, but again I don't print hundreds of pages, just the average family use so it doesn't hurt me when I have to replace them.
The print quality is really good from a compact ink jet printer, good enough to print decent charts, documents and even photos.
The canon boasts print speeds of upto 16 pages per minute, this must ...

Hard to fault for light day-to-day use.....
Review of Canon Pixma iP5200R by
nemo183
Advantages: Easy of use and set up, quality of results
Disadvantages: Running costs could get a little pricey.....
...assumes you will be using Canon photo paper at all times, and optimises the print quality for this. Oddly, the wizard does not include all the papers Canon supply, but selection of the nearest likely seems to work well.
Print quality is excellent. Despite the use of a 3 colour system, in place of the 4 colour one a professional would use, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference.
A black and white letter can be printed in a similar time ... ...the "go" button, and your Canon software will auto recognise what you are trying to do, import the scanned image, and then print it on your new media without any further adjustment. It's as close to magic as any software I've ever seen.
Just a word of warning when printing onto a DVD/CD - make sure the disc is pressed down into it's holder, else it may clash with the print head.
The Canon software also installs a small toolbar in Internet Explorer ...

Good basic printer
Review of Canon i 250 by
shil1138
Advantages: Inexpensive and easy to use
Disadvantages: Slow
...text per cartridge. The Canon replacements are a bit expensive but luckily I was able to find compatibles for around one pound per cartridge over the internet and these work fine. Another minor issue is that the paper sometimes gets stuck in the printer, either because it is not lined up properly or not ejected properly and the printer sucks it back in, but this only seem to happen in you are printing lots of pages. ...

Good quality + CD/DVD printing
Review of Canon PIXMA IP4200 by
cpennington
Advantages: economical
Disadvantages: A bit of messing around to use third party cartidges
I have had this printer for over a year now - I bought it when they had just hit the market. Looking at the price now brings a tear to my eye (£54 is an absolute bargain). I shopped around at the time & paid around £90.
Cartridges were a bit expensive, but third party cartridges are now available & remember that the use of four separate ink tanks prevents a lot of wastage. The installation of third party cartridges does require the removal & refitting ... ...is logged by the printer - so bye bye warranty!
I would say it is quite economical with the ink - I have only replaced the cartridges a couple of times & it does see a reasonable amount of use. If you use the bottom paper cartridge, the lid can stay closed & it looks really neat on the desk.
Major benefit is the direct printing of CD/DVD's. Amazing quality.
I don't tend to use the printer for photo printing a great deal - but when I have the quality ...

HP PhotoSmart Pro B9180
Review of HP PhotoSmart Pro B9180 by
my_user
Advantages: Printer quality will lost for many many years
Disadvantages: please check my Drawbacks list with this printer:
I had brought this printer particularly to print my beautiful photos. Based on my experience the photos quality is simply superb. I have stuck few A3 size (bigger scenery photos) photos on my room walls without any laminations, already few months ago and I'm cleaning dust with cloth once in a while but still the photo print quality is very good, not seen even small shading on the print. I never had seen this kind of print quality in my life time. ... ...Drawbacks with this printer: It takes hell a lot of time to initialize the printer (minimum 15 to 20 minutes) by this time your 5 to 10% of ink cartridge will become empty.
It consumes too much of ink and ink bags are sky high price.
After a few months the whole printer with full of aerosol ( full of ink) Printing time is very very….slow
Very bad paper skew happens once in a while (particularly when you print ...
