What is it that youy want out of an inkjet printer? - something that prints good quality prints fairly quickly and doing this quietly. After buying this model for around £60, this is what i expected, even if it was not absolutely perfect, being relatively cheap. The first problem which i have found is that the print speed is extremely slow. Fow black & white the speed is meant to be 14 ppm (pages per minute) and for colour it is supposed to be 13.9 ppm. On advice from various friends and colleagues, I've tried different settings for the print quality and the paper type, using photo paper, matt and glossy, print quality paper, etc, but have never been entirely satisfied with the overall output. But I would add that using original Epson ink cartridges definitely gives a better print quality than using recycled / remanufactured ...
...you shop around, you can pick up the black cartridge for about £6 and the colour for about £7, so paying a few extra quid will get you better print results. I had actually seen the cartridges advertised for over £15 each which I thought was a real con. Why pay that much when you can get them for less than half the price - even for the originals? Epson Stylus C48 Review! This is Epson's cheapest budget printer and it can be bought for £30 which is almost the same price as buying a full set of cartridges.
