Manufacturer's product description

Sam fights in a fierce battle against the Danish Fleet, led by none other than Nelson himself, and against all odds victory is theirs. Peace is declared and Britain's war with most of Northern Europe is over. Sam can go home. But on the journey back, he witnesses a crime, for which he is framed. He is sentenced to death, but at the last minute his sentence is commuted to transportation to Australia. With petty thieves, vicious criminals, women, and other children, Sam begins an eight month journey to the other side of the world, and a life of slavery in the harsh Australian interior. He knows that against all odds, he must escape.

My birthday gift
Review of Blue Horizon - Wilbur Smith by goldenray

Advantages: A good read if you have the time
Disadvantages: You have to spend much time to complete reading this book

...Yes, I got Blue Horizon as my birthday gift. Being crazy about books, it was a good birthday gift. My husband had gifted this book on my birthday. He took me to WH Smith in Bath, UK (last year July 3rd) and asked me to select a book of my choice and ended up selecting Blue Horizon(it was a good selection indeed. I enjoyed reading the book). I got it for £7.99 from WH Smith. From the No.1 bestseller author Wilbur Smith, it is about new generation of Courtneys who help a girl prisoner escape from the convict ship and hence they are being chased by the captain of the ship. It is a journey both exciting and hazardous, that takes them to the unexplored wilderness of Africa. They get to travel along the infamous "Robber's Road". The heroine of the book is tortured by her master and ends up in jail for a crime she has never committed... Read review

Review of The Pickwick Papers - Charles Dickens by carpathian

Advantages: Good easy to read book
Disadvantages: Slow start

...by the author. The adventures they enjoy and the people they meet could indeed be from any other novel by the same author. The group of friends led by Mr Pickwick set off on their journey and meet a cross section of society: Sam Weller, the jovial groom, is typical of the cheery working class that Dickens liked to portray Alfred Jingle, likeable rogue, could easily be a young Mr Micawber. Anyway after many adventures and travels the eponymous leader of this band finds himself in the clutches of the dreaded blue baggers (lawyers, Dickens hated them and saw them as pariahs preying on others). Without giving the story away the last few chapters involve, debtors prisons and deportations to Australia. This is not my favourite Dickens story but it is well written, the authors lack of interest in the subject is obvious until we start getting deeper... Read review

Grisham has done it again
Review of The Chamber - John Grisham by christopherj84

Advantages: Good book, makes you take a stpe back and look at life
Disadvantages: Slow start

...This book is about Sam Cayhall, an old prisoner on the Row in Mississippi for bombing a Jewish office. The bomb was delayed using a timer and killed two young children, the same age as Sam's grandchildren. Now Adam, Sam's grandson has got a job as a lawyer and is fighting to save his grandfather. The Cayhall family is a mess and as you read the book, you discover more about their horrible history. It makes you think about whether the death penalty it appropriate for anyone. It is another very exiting law novel by Grisham which is a must for all his fans and generally anyone who likes reading.... Read review
