A step back in time

Advantages: Something a little different to everyday games
Disadvantages: You need to be vigilent for sub titles

If your a history lover or just want a game where you have to sit there plan your way around then this is the game for you.

The sujestion "beat the guards at there own game" is basically what you have to do. The game is played in the three toughest concentration camps of Germany back in world war two.

Get other inmates to help you on your mission. little Trinkets are money and money is freedom as this is what ...

Advantages: a great idea which hasnt been done before
Disadvantages: graphics and sounds bit jerky at times

Prisoner of War is one of the few games for the PS2 which I find seems to go unnoticed...and it really shouldn't be. I bought the game around 2 years ago now and I still value it as one of the best games in my colection and here's why : The storyline : The game is set in World War 2 and is based around the fictional character Captain Lewis Stone. The game begins with his plane being shot down and being captured by the German enemy. He is placed ...
...the character. The sole objective of the game is to escape with your only weapons being stealth and cunning! The gameplay: A really great game. You (Captain Stone) are transported to several different prisons including Stalag Luft and the famous Colditz Castle. There are lots of "in-game" activites to do whilst you plan your escape. These include gambling to earn currency, rock throwing, and setting music off on the loudspeaker-a great way of annoying ...

What a Boer!

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Camp German accents, stereotypes galore

...and imprisoned in a German Prisoner of War camp. Here is a sample of the truly dreadful humour and dialogue: (Stone who has just crashed to the earth, as his plane goes down) is greeted by a German Herr Kommandant. German Officer: Ah! How nice of you to "drop in"! Yes, the humour is that caliber. The graphics are dreadful, the guards heads seem to be five sizes to big for their bodies, and their rifles rather worringly resemble woodden sticks. ...
...move Stone around the enemy camp without detection, as you will otherwise be shot, or thrown in the "cooler", yet another dated and rather tedious stereotype. The stealth is hardly along the lines of Metal Gear Solid, if you are spotted just once, then the alarm will sound and effectively it is game over. This does icnrease the difficulty of the game, making more frustrating rather than challenging. Another difficult aspect of the game to actually ...

Carry on camping

Advantages: Great game
Disadvantages: not too sure

...Honour, Commandos 2 and now Prisoner of War all hitting the PS2 in the same sortie. POW is a difficult game to sum up. It's like MGS2 during the war but without guns. It features sneaking around avoiding guards, collecting items and interacting with NPC's, but there's no high-tech gadgetry or getting pooed on by seagulls. You take the role of Lewis Stone, a recon pilot shot down over occupied territory and captured by the Germans. You start in a ...
...have to chat with inmates who already know the camp's routines and secrets. The game is split into five chapters, each of which represents a different camp, such as Colditz or Stalag Luft. You progress by completing objectives like stealing a key or gaining currency to buy an item from the camp scrounger. Eventually you'll end up escaping the camp - only to be captured and sent to the next! Game progression, while predictable, certainly isn't 100% ...

prisioner of war

Advantages: brilliant game
Disadvantages: can drag if you dont know what to do

I have had this game for about a month. I dont think I have played a game like this before. One where you have to think rather than shooting a selection of bad guys or funny looking monsters. You play the role of captain Lewis stone, who is shot down over germany during world war two and held in stalag luft and then colditz concentration camp. Captain lewis stones mission is to destroy a new super gun but first You must escape these camps but you ...
...and items that you steal and borrow from other prisioners in the camp. You must also be careful of time as you must report for roll call at 5am and 9pm. If your not there the guards will come looking for you with the order to shoot you. dont worry if your shot or arrested during the game, in my game I must have been shot or arrested at least ten times ( not got the hang of the stealth movements yet!!!)you just move on the the next day. The hardest ...

Experience the terror

Advantages: Adventure, challenging, thought provoking
Disadvantages: quite high difficulty levels

Prisoner of war is an rpg game set in world war 2. At first impression i expected the game to be similar to the usuall shoot em up style that seems to be the main focus of the vast majority of world war 1&2 games. When you finally play this game you will be very surprised, this game offers everything you could possibly want from a prisoner of war game-- you really are a prisoner of war, You live the life of a prisoner with their morning and nightime ...
...escape tactically from the several prisoner of war camp locations you end up in. In order to do this, you have to interact with other prisoners, sneak around the camp avoiding all the guards, you have to find objects to sell to other prisoners in order to gain vital information or vital objects. The atmosphere of the camps is very intense, the guards will take no messing about so you always have to be on guard and keep hidden. Most of the escape ...
