as to where they want him to run by clicking in the open space. However, it's what happens with your teammates that will prove to be the defining moment of this latest PES. Users will be able to click on other members of their side and tell them where to run, to perform one-two passes or make them create space by dragging away defenders. It will be possible to manipulate as many players as you can quickly get control of to make set pieces become a vital part of the attacking play. Make forwards run across goal, defenders will spin and attack the back post while the towering striker makes a dart for the near post - all of which is controlled by you.The game will automatically detect the type of pass you want to make depending on the distance the player you want to pass to is standing. If you point for a pass to a player on the other side of the pitch, the game will loop a high ball over. Likewise, if you chip a ball into space, you can then grab the nearest player and move him towards it.New gameplay modes have been added, including the Champions Road option. Players get the opportunity to train sub standard team and then play off against other teams online. Defeating these CPU teams enables you to take some of their players and strengthen your team on the road to glory.

Created specifically to make full use of the Wii?s unique control system, PES 2008 brings ... more
all the realism of Pro Evolution Soccer to the Nintendo machine, but with a more ?team-orientated? control system. The Wii game mirrors the real sport?s use of open space and the exploitation of defensive lapses and accurate passes essential in creating scoring opportunities. The Wii version of PES 2008 expands on these elements, with the use of the Nunchuck and Wii Remote controllers giving the player control over both the player on the ball, and those around him. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 Features: Using a point and drag system, the player uses the Wii Remote to guide the player with the ball, and perform all the skill moves and close control with subtle movements of their hand. Instantly, the Wii Remote is used to point at nearby players to select them to receive a pass or to latch on to a through-ball. The Remote can also be used to steer the run of the receiving player, giving extra control as they thread throughmasses of defenders or run into open space. The new system gives the player full control over their team, and allows the man marking of specific threats, while shakes of the Wii Nunchuk can be used to perform sliding tackles, and send the goal keeper out to clear a loose ball. The strategic elements are also easily accessed, with the directional controls of the Wii Remote used to activate tactical plays and spring counter attacks or send players tracking back. PES 2008 for Wii features six game modes, spanning Match, League and Cup elements, and Training and Trade section. The new version also features an exclusive ?Champions Road? competition, wherein players take their chosen team to compete in league competitions all over the world. The idea of the Champions Road tournament is to come top in every league, and build a team by receiving players from recently defeated sides. Experience points are added to all used players after a match, and

I have to award konami for that but since the releases of play station2 pro evolution series; there are not many differences between the previous pro evolution installations and the recent ones. But all the same, thanks to konami for their brilliant soccer installations full of brilliant game plays and artificial intelligence. As usual, I will not fail to recommend this to pro evolution hard-core fans because if I fail to do so, then I have failed to pass very vital information among pro evo fans.
As konami may be, they don't fail coming up with some thing new about game plays and other features. In some of the previous installations, they had come up with some thing new on passing skills, dribbling skills and even trapping skills.
Now I have to start up with some spectacular features like the game play, game graphics and so on.
GAME PLAY: Obviously, as a pro evo fan that has been playing the previous installation, there are many similarities in the game plays but with some slight differences. So if you have not seen the game, you can equally visualize the game play of the previous pro evolution installation that you have been playing. What actual make up the thin line between this recent and previous installation? First I have to start up with the graphics by saying that there is not much changes to compare to the previous versions. Second the game play, which is the backbone of every soccer game, had some slight change like in the speed at which the players run has reduced a bit and second, for proper ball control, some work has to be done like moving the cross or direction button to avoid losing the ball to your opponent and the number three factor is the scoring rate that has also been made difficult. Do to the advanced artificial intelligence of the goalies; you rarely score in the game. Also another changed factor is the fast responsiveness of players while in the field of play.
The previous version, which is the pro evolution 6, had a bit easier method of scoring goals, has some faster movement of players and then less work on ball control. Some other things had slight changed from the previous version like running pattern and so on.
One happy thing about the game is that is that It has gotten a very big competitor and that is FIFA soccer that are now out to outplay pro evolution soccer but I don't know on when that may be. I now enjoy the FIFA soccer more now than before when they were lacking game play. So now both of them are now in my soccer agenda so both are pleasurable to me but I still take pro evolution as my favourite soccer game.
One major problem with Konami soccer games is that they always have the problem of getting real player names. Like in this recent pro evolution 2008, some players don't even have their names written properly. So what is really the problem with pro evolution soccer developers?
But the problem of real players name does not bother me other than game plays.
GRAPHICS.
Well I wont put up much praises on the graphics because it has almost the same similarities with the previous installation, which is the pro evolution 6. It has the same graphics with its predecessor but once you take an observant look you will discover the slight changes in the graphics.
THE COMMENTARY.
There is slight improvement in the commentary to compare to the previous installations.
OTHER FEATURES. There are some additional features in the game which include the Europeans champions cup mode which is a very fantastic mode and very playable and keeps the longevity of the game long. Another new feature is the provision of more countries and the playing of home and away matches. You can also pick up any player in order to make up the football squad and that is great fun.
THE BALL MODE.
It has the open league, the master league and other leagues.
CONCLUSION.
In my own opinion, this is a must buy game and with full assurance that it will be a great game and with no regret. You can buy this in many shops on line like in my own case I bought mine at amazon.uk and at the price £15.49.
Advantages: Game play, reality, graphics, skills, cup modes, master league Disadvantages: Lack of official licenses and teams.
...an avid fan of the pro evolution franchise for many years now and eagerly await any new release as if it were christmas. So every October the prospect of a new edition of this delightful game fills me and many of my friends with joy, taking entire days off university / work and all other responsibilities to wet our appetites with what is always an unbelivable game.
I've waited until now (November 18th) to review this game as it would be unfair to ... ...it remains very similar to pro evolution 6, but a few minutes in you'll becime aware of the changes. The commentary is noticably less irritating, the layout of menus is a breath of fresh air and the new updated teams, kits, players and statistics make it an essential purchase for any past fan. Probably the highlight for me however is the new European championships mode on the cup menu where you are able to select a team and take them through the ...

Advantages: Still the best soccer game in terms of gameplay Disadvantages: No noticable improvements from the last release
The Pro Evolution Soccer series has been around for a while now, and even though they are all very similar in terms of playerbility, you still get that feeling of excitment when a new PES hits the shelves. After playing PES 7 extensively (both master league and against friends) I was expecting another step up in quality. I was left disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is still brilliant and light years ahead of the arcade-like Fifa, but ... ...some aspects have even gone backwards which left me wondering what the hell went on at Konami during the making of PES2008.
First off is that hardly any of the players actually look like their real life versions. Apart from a hand full of the big names (Beckham, Owen, Ronaldo, Gattuso, Ferdinand) every other player looks the same. I actually thought Konami did a good job on the last couple of releases but thats not the case here. As mentioned before, ...

Advantages: Excellent graphics, better commentary then Pro Evo 6 Disadvantages: Still licence issues
I am a lifelong Pro Evo fan - owning every single release dating back to the original, and knew that I had to buy this new release. After purchasing Pro Evo 2008 last year, I instantly knew that Konami had bettered themselves, even after the success of Pro Evo 6. Once you load the game and get to the starting screen, you will be pleased to see that the menu's are better laid out and the different options are more accessible. I felt that if this game was lacking anything, it would be the fact that there were no new game modes.
In-game play is fairly similar to Pro Evo 6 in my opinion but there are noticable improvements. Graphics are slightly more realistic and look more fluid. The one huge improvement lies in the commentary, with the words ...

Advantages: One of the greatest multiplayer sports games of all time. Disadvantages: May end up taking over the night
...was new to the whole Pro Evo thing until this game came out. In fact, my PS2 was boxed up under my bed ready to be sold as I thought I had out grown the whole computer game thing.
Well, this game changed that. After ending up at a mates house a for a few nights out with his PS2, this game and a few beers I felt that I just had to get it myself. The reason for this is that it is a fantastically enjoyable game (particularly in a group situation), ... ...keep you entertained for hours.
I got my copy for £20 and was half expecting that it would sit in my room under the TV until I had people round and then it would be brought out for a few games and put away. However this is about as far from the truth as could happen. I found myslef playing alone as well, as the single player mode is almost as much fun.
Without going through all the ins and outs of what you can do in this game I will sum it up simply. ...

I think this game has great gameplay and graphics. It's a great game and i recommend it. One of the biggest down points is the licensing, Since the greatest league in the world (The Premiership) is not fully licensed it's a big down from me on that point. However don't let that put you off, It has a great new AI system where it basically adapts to your gameplay. The graphics are pretty good and it's value for money however it could still improve ...

Manufacturer's product description
Key to PES 2008 is a proprietary adaptive AI system entitled Teamvision. Unique to the Konami game, Teamvision is a sophisticated AI programming that learns and adapts according to an individual\'s style of play. As such, it will learn new ways to build attacks and to counter specific movements and previous attacking or defensive errors, ensuring games are more in line with the tactical but flowing nature of the real thing.
With the Pro Evolution Soccer series renowned for its fluid, realistic gameplay, the new game builds on the implementation of Teamvision with additional key advances. As with previous releases since its inception in 1996, the ball is again treated as a separate entity, with the timing of shots entirely down to the player, while the new AI ensures that defenders work to close down space and block efforts on goal. Similarly, distribution of passes works along the same lines, with players using the space available to them to switch the ball. Close control has also been enhanced with more control when dribbling the ball, and a number of subtle moves added to bypass defenders and move the ball into space.
Working in conjunction with the Teamvision system, every aspect of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008\'s on-field play has been reworked and fine-tuned to create the balanced and strategic play of a high stakes match. Set-pieces have been improved, with full control given over the number of players and the position of the defensive wall. A wider range of set piece options are also available to make use of specific talents within the team.
