as to where they want him to run by clicking in the open space. However, it's what happens with your teammates that will prove to be the defining moment of this latest PES. Users will be able to click on other members of their side and tell them where to run, to perform one-two passes or make them create space by dragging away defenders. It will be possible to manipulate as many players as you can quickly get control of to make set pieces become a vital part of the attacking play. Make forwards run across goal, defenders will spin and attack the back post while the towering striker makes a dart for the near post - all of which is controlled by you.The game will automatically detect the type of pass you want to make depending on the distance the player you want to pass to is standing. If you point for a pass to a player on the other side of the pitch, the game will loop a high ball over. Likewise, if you chip a ball into space, you can then grab the nearest player and move him towards it.New gameplay modes have been added, including the Champions Road option. Players get the opportunity to train sub standard team and then play off against other teams online. Defeating these CPU teams enables you to take some of their players and strengthen your team on the road to glory.

all the realism of Pro Evolution Soccer to the Nintendo machine, but with a more ?team-orientated? control system. The Wiigame mirrors the real sport?s use of open space and the exploitation of defensive lapses and accurate passes essential in creating scoring opportunities. The Wii version of PES 2008 expands on these elements, with the use of the Nunchuck and Wii Remote controllers giving the player control over both the player on the ball, and those around him. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 Features: Using a point and drag system, the player uses the Wii Remote to guide the player with the ball, and perform all the skill moves and close control with subtle movements of their hand. Instantly, the Wii Remote is used to point at nearby players to select them to receive a pass or to latch on to a through-ball. The Remote can also be used to steer the run of the receiving player, giving extra control as they thread through masses of defenders or run into open space. The new system gives the player full control over their team, and allows the man marking of specific threats, while shakes of the Wii Nunchuk can be used to perform sliding tackles, and send the goal keeper out to clear a loose ball. The strategic elements are also easily accessed, with the directional controls of the Wii Remote used to activate tactical plays and spring counter attacks or send players tracking back. PES 2008 for Wii features six game modes, spanning Match, League and Cup elements, and Training and Trade section. The new version also features an exclusive ?Champions Road? competition, wherein players take their chosen team to compete in league competitions all over the world. The idea of the Champions Road tournament is to come top in every league, and build a team by receiving players from recently defeated sides. Experience points are added to all used players after a match, and

Each year Konami release a new version of the famous football game, which was released at the end of october 2007. And once again it has been pu to the test against its arch rival - Fifa 08. I have once again remained a strong follower of the pro evo series and bought this game as soon as it was released despite many people trying to persuade me to go to the 'other side' and buy Fifa. Was this the year that fifa took the lead? I have to say that i am confident i made the right decision and have seen several improvements from last year's game and have enjoyed this game loads, it was certainly worth buying.
This game has had many improvements from its predecessor and has certainly been upgraded quite a lot. Firstly the graphics have greatly improved with facial features getting more and more realistic, as well as the whole player along with the shirt having improvements, for example with the shirt creasing being visible - when i play it at home the rest of my family sometimes think i am watching a game on tv, but i am actually playing this awesome game! Again Konami have improved the AI making great advances and upgrades in off-ball players' intelligence and vision. Players are often making great runs for you to play the ball in perfectly for them. You can also adjust setting for the set pieces and can change it so that taller players will come up for corners (as they do in real matches). There is little you can't do in this game that can be done in real life - for example you can now even dive if you so wish. There have also been several more skill techniques added to the collection so you can now do fakes, 'round the world' and a collection of other tricks. These are quite easy to get to grips with as they are all simply described in the manual and in options when you pause the game. So now you can really do what Ronaldo does - destroy your opponents!
There are 15 different stadiums to choose from in the ps3 version which are all of course very similar to the real counter parts.
The actual menu has been revamped and changed a bit from the previous version and of course is very simple to use and takes only a few games to get use to. Each player has separate ratings for a whole variety of skills from speed to defence to shooting. You can also adjust players attributes and even create your own players with endless things to adjust in their appearance from their boots and bracelets to their nose level or how fat they are. Another feature which i find great is how realistically the players actually are. For example Ronaldo plays just like he does in real life as he will constantly do little flicks when he gets the ball, and these are done automatically - how cool is that! There are as usual, on pro evo, some great songs from a variety of different bands. I would also like to mention that the commentary in this version is a great improvement from last year and they actually say more relevant things.
There are still a variety of modes to choose from including the well loved master league mode where you can start as a team of your choice and play through games as well as being the manager and making team changes and transfers. There are others modes such as exhibition where you can just set up a quick game and play straight away. Or you can play through a variety of different leagues or cups and prove you are a footballing hero!
There is also online where you can play against other players from across the world. This is of course great fun and a new feature is that you can chat with the other player with a selection of phrases to say such as "GOAL!" or "that was unlucky" when the other player gets close. Offline multiplayer is also really fun and great with friends.
The general game play is very fast paced with it changing from one end to the other in just a few moments. It takes a while to get use to the speed, but once you've got the hang of it, this game is absolutely awesome with you being able to score some great goals. I have played Fifa a few times and find it too slow and unexciting, whereas once again pro evo wins the hearts of all the football fans with the ability to just set up a quick game and have great fun thrashing some team or another. The player's are also much more intelligent in pro evo than they use to be and their shot will depend on which foot they are suing and how they are standing or whether they are on the move.
There are of course a few downfalls with this new Pro Evo game. Firstly it still lacks all the licences which Fifa owns. This means a lot of the teams do not have proper names and certain players have fake names, for example Manchester United are called Man Red, but the game play is still the same. Some people have also suffered a lot of lag while playing online, but i have not had any of these problems as of yet. Yet on the whole i would certainly say this is a better game than Fifa and would advise anyone who is looking for a good football game to buy this - if you're a Fifa fan - go for a change try the other side.
Advantages: little improvement to previos version, new features, close looks, players intellegence movement etc .... Disadvantages: online offline lagging, some unnecessary stuff, techniques, problem selling etc...
...As you all know that Pro Evolution Soccer game never bothers to improve its menu screen it seems a lot unwelcoming. In PES 2008 the fonts are too big, it's a lot colorful, and I think all the options should be on the screen to select, rather than pressing down or up to see the options. Also the soundtracks didn't pick me up. The soundtrack tries to extend variety but is unpleasant throughout the game.
Also the commentator, who is Mark Lawrenson, ... ...features" for two years, but Pro Evolution Soccer lacks this feature. I think they should at least put this feature on ….
Also I forgot to mention that, I came into knowledge that when creating Konami account for online play, it is registered to you with your info and details. The point is that if you ever want to sell your game, the next person will be unable to play online unless he or she has your registration details. .......................

Advantages: Plays a great game of football both in single and 'real-life' multiplayer Disadvantages: Looks like an up-scaled PS2 game, slight slowdown issues and online is broken
For me, the Pro Evolution Soccer series has been vastly superior to EA's FIFA Football, ever since ISS Pro 98 and I have always championed it as such. Unfortunately, with this latest version for the Playstation 3, it seems that Seabass Takatsuka and his team at KCET have fallen into the same trap as their contemporaries at EA and have failed to eradicate any of the flaws that were becoming prevalent in the last few PS2 versions of the series.
The ... ...League, where the player takes a team of their choice and starts off in the second division of a two-tier fictional league system, fighting to gain promotion to the premier division. The foremost issue that fans of the series have always had with this mode is the inability to keep the leagues in line with their real-life counterparts. Whilst this has been improved on slightly, by allowing for twenty teams per division, rather than the previous eighteen, ...

...But those who know the Pro Evolution Soccer series (or PES as it will be known hereafter), they will know that in the long run, it will save you a lot of money, because it takes away your social life. Assuming you spend £20 a weekend on drinks, you can see how much money you save. Anyway, this is the first PES to appear on PS3, and it does so amongst much furore. Well, the menus are big, and bold and colourful. But the whole thing is starting to whiff a little of FIFA. It's a bit TOO big and bold and colourful. And the menu music is still so bad it makes me want to take hostages and start killing them. I think the musical choices are supposed to be a "round the world" feel, but it still sounds like lift music.

Advantages: Excellent realism and gameplay. Disadvantages: Team names and players still missing.
Where to start with Pro Evolution Soccer 8? I'm sure most of you have heard or asked the question...Pro Evo or Fifa? Don't lie you know that's why you're here! I've generally always bought both Fifa and Pro Evo games, mainly because I couldn't just pick one as they are both excellent in their own ways. I will now attempt to find differences in the games and eventually pick the better one....here goes....
Controls
Pro Evolution brings more realism ... ...Some of the players in Pro Evo still look a bit dodgy like they have been hit by a really big hammer and just haven't quite recovered yet. At least Michael Owen has the right coloured body now, he would turn black at random points during Pro Evolution 7 so thats a bonus.
Sound The commentators are pretty much the same as Pro Evo 7 so you still get some of those classic phrases but it can be a bit annoying once you've heard them a thousant times. ...

Pro Evolution Soccer's debut on Playstation has been an eventful one, but seemingly a disappointing one. The PS3 promised a more powerful console capable of fitting more on a Blu-ray disc than a DVD, with built-in HD movie playback. But despite these appealling technical gimmicks Sony had boasted, the game-play of Pro-Evo 2008 faulters at the most fundamental hurdle for a football game; it's jerky graphics, especially in replays, and regular glaring ... ...bit amateur. The game frequently and inexplicably appears to slow down, meaning a genuine slide tackle for the ball can be misconstrued by the ridiculously harsh referees for a red card offence, hence ruining the match thereafter, just as a red card does in the premiership. In a crowded penalty area quick decision making and accurate shooting are rendered far too difficult. Indeed these drawbacks induce one to change the game settings, adjust the ...

Advantages: its a football game Disadvantages: poor framerate on replays, lagging online games
I have purchased this game today and i must admit I am not impressed.Ive played around 10 games offline and it just doesnt feel as good as pro evo 6 on the playstation 2. The framerate during replays is shockingly bad and lags similar to how online lag appears. Why have Konami done this to us?
We've been waiting for this for what seems like an eternity and it feels like it has been rushed to be completed on schedule.
The online play is appalling with terrible lag and poor framerate. I do not recommend buying this game.Whats the point of buying it if you cant experience the excitement of good online play?
Konami better sort out a fix for the various problems encountered otherwise a lot of people will be very dissappointed.
Avoid for now until update is sorted by Konami. ...

Finally Football games have arrived on the PS3. First Fifa 08 and now ProEvolution2008.
-- GAMEPLAY --
Overall gameplay is very good. Graphics have been improved over the previous version, but the extra horse power of the PS3 helps. Commentry has also improved but it does become very repetitive the more you play the game. Passing and ball control is now crisper and tackling has also been enhanced. Players can now group pressure the opposing teams player, which makes dribblng harder.
-- GRAPHICS --
Graphics are improved but at times framerate can be poor. On replays the animation is jerky which is disappointing. Players do not transition smoothly when there is lots of action going on in the game on the screen. On a high definition tv this isn't as apparant, you would have thought it would have been the other way around ...

Manufacturer's product description
Key to PES 2008 is a proprietary adaptive AI system entitled Teamvision. Unique to the Konami game, Teamvision is a sophisticated AI programming that learns and adapts according to an individual\'s style of play. As such, it will learn new ways to build attacks and to counter specific movements and previous attacking or defensive errors, ensuring games are more in line with the tactical but flowing nature of the real thing.
With the Pro Evolution Soccer series renowned for its fluid, realistic gameplay, the new game builds on the implementation of Teamvision with additional key advances. As with previous releases since its inception in 1996, the ball is again treated as a separate entity, with the timing of shots entirely down to the player, while the new AI ensures that defenders work to close down space and block efforts on goal. Similarly, distribution of passes works along the same lines, with players using the space available to them to switch the ball. Close control has also been enhanced with more control when dribbling the ball, and a number of subtle moves added to bypass defenders and move the ball into space.
Working in conjunction with the Teamvision system, every aspect of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008\'s on-field play has been reworked and fine-tuned to create the balanced and strategic play of a high stakes match. Set-pieces have been improved, with full control given over the number of players and the position of the defensive wall. A wider range of set piece options are also available to make use of specific talents within the team.
Player detail has been taken to incredible levels with full facial animation and the high-definition detail afforded by the hardware used to show full movement and subtle details to the various kits during the course of a match. All \'Next Gen\' versions will also benefit from an extensive Edit mode, allowing gamers to customise their PES experience.
