Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is KONAMI's latest soccer game.
The game-play is very similar to that of the previous version; the only noticable difference is in the player's ability to more skilfully turn with the ball. The speed seems slower, but this is an advantage in my opinion, because the previous games were far too fast. New fancy skills have been added but these can take quite some time to learn. If you are thinking of buying books to swat up on new skills, I would advise trying online guides first, as the books never tell you everything.
As for new features - the new additions in the theatre area allow you to change the music on the menu. The Graphics in Pro 2008 are simply the best of the entire series. For example, the player's facial expressions match their actions much better than ever before and their hair moves more realistically when they run.
The well known edit mode is better too; you can now edit all characters (this was unavailable on PRO 6). With the XBOX 360's eye vision camera, you can also take a portrait picture of yourself and paste it onto a blank virtual character, and play as yourself…after you upload your picture there is no distortion of the image…the graphic quality is so good that it really looks as though YOU are the player on the pitch.
There are some disadvantages to the game; the main disadvantage is the lack of club teams. There is no German league, no Russian league, no Portuguese league, neither are there Turkish, Greek, Brazilian, Mexican, Argentinian or USA leagues. This does not mean there are no international teams; Konami have managed to put in some of the more popular teams, such as Bayern Munic, FC Porto, Sporting Lisbon, Fernebache and a few more.
Overall, Pro Evolution Soccer is a great game. If you are looking for a soccer game with great game-play, and one that does not bore you easily, then Pro Evo Soccer is a MUST.
