experience with its latest instalment, Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (PES 2009). The main upgrades from year to year in sports simulators are the expected features such as extended and updated rosters, teams, players and stadiums, with extra game modes perhaps and improved AI; this is where PES 2009 conforms to the norm. The AI is more intelligent, there's a heightened sense of realism with unique camera angles and improved graphics as well as the functionality of PES 2009 over Xbox Live and in the brand new Become a Legend mode where players start off as an amateur footballer who becomes scouted out to play for a top club and then must prove that he can wing it with the pros.

control interface, only made possible by the unique nature of the Wii controllers offered a completely new way for players to interact with PES. One year on and the programmers have listened to feedback from gamers and made PES 2009 on Wii an even more impressive title. The new game will retain the intuitive point and click interface used to control both the player in possession of the ball and to send those around him on to runs into space. However, a new traditional control system using either a Wii Remote or Classic controller has also been implemented.Using a Wii Remote held sideways or a classic controller, the secondary player can control the game in a manner familiar to existing versions of PES for other formats. Thus, they can control using familiar PES controls while their co-op player orchestrates their player and the rest of the team using the bespoke Wii system. An improved defense system will allow players to close down their opposition with more precision using the Z button, while a new targeting system sees the player steering where they place the ball when shooting. Coupled with better AI for the CPU-controlled players and opposition, the result is a more free-flowing and faster paced simulation. Set pieces have also been reworked, with more precision on free kicks and a wider range of corners than in the previous game.In keeping with versions for other formats, PES 2009 for Wii will also feature the UEFA Champions League, the addition of the ever-popular Master League for the first time on this format plus the return of an enhanced Champions Road competition, an enhanced Edit Mode, more online gameplay possibilities, and a Mii Training sub-game systemImproved defensive controlsSecond player can use 'Sideways' controllerChampions leag

It now feature the champions league licence--- although this is quite a boring league and a lot of the teams playing in it don't have licensing so you find your self being bored! The replay system has also been revamped making this a lot smoother and free.
If you have a webcam for your 360 there is a continuing feature from PES 2006 which lets you take a picture of your face and stick it on a player... this is awesome and great fun for creating a team of all your mates- its great watching your name score a goal and then you zoom in and its actually YOU! PES has always been known for its unique master league and to be honest the format here still hasn't changed at all- which is a little bit annoying but it has developed enough to keep it very enjoyable and very addictive!
The most fun you can have of PES though is if you have xbox live--- you can play anyone from across Europe and this makes the game very very addictive; you will find yourself playering 10 or 20 games a day! Watch out though as some players are really good and you may get frutrated lol! It also has a copy of last years FIFA game when you 'become a legend' by controlling only one player on the pitch... this is fun for a bit but then gets frustrating when you never get the ball. It does add a new dimension but a poor one.
The Cons--- I still find it very annoying that a massive game that makes as much money as the PES series hasnt got all the licenses, this is irratating as it takes the fun out of player certain team, certain players, and the leagues. A lot of players look nothing like their reallife counterparts- you would expect the powerful game engine of the xbox360 to handle this so where is the problem? With the crappy manufacturing!
Also the xbox live games are extremely laggy if you dont have a high connection speed- I play on a 10mg broadband line and I still get lag spikes all the time!!
It doesn't have many cons, the problem is the pluses have simple problems... Yes it's a good game to play with mates but frankly its not improving enough. PES 2006 is almost identical and it wasn't even made with the xbox360 in mind... PES needs to sort it out and quickly because this years FIFA is BETTER!

...difference in this version of Pro Evolution Soccer is the addition of the champions league and the new licensed teams. Manchester United and Liverpool are the fully licensed teams this year. Designing ... ...football game comes out, the Pro Evolution Soccer versus FIFA, I am a Pro Evolution Soccer fan myself. Playing this game though is starting to change my way of thinking, it is nowhere near its rivals graphics. FIFA have also started to catch up on the gameplay side, they have also introduced some new game modes. For all the arguing though I think they both have room on the shop shelves. The Pros are the new modes, the graphics and the realism of ...

Advantages: Champions league mode Disadvantages: Online play, not many licensed teams, passing, most other things
...would have tried to improve Pro Evolution 2009 so it could compete with Fifa. Like a loyal idiot I thought surely they would have made a few good additions and improved the online play. To be honest they haven`t. I never thought Fifa would be better than PES but it is now. Unlike on the PS2 the great game play is gone; it is frustrating playing this game. You never feel like you are controlling the players and it is not as addictive as the seasons ... ...generation has been bad for Pro Evolution Soccer and Fifa is better in nearly every way. The online play is still miles worse than Fifa. Most of the names are still unlicensed but there are more licensed teams than last year. The game play is too fast and the passing is not that accurate. If next season Konami cannot get their act together they will probably go and all we will have left is Fifa and they will not improve much because there is no competition. ...

Advantages: Become a Legend is a welcome addition, Players will prefer the slower pace of play, Better graphics Disadvantages: Poor AI which affects most aspects of the game, Online mode is still disappointing
The Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) series is legendary. A legacy stretching back to the Playstation 1 of great football games, now is a damaged legacy due to recent releases. Why?
Up till PES5 on the Playstation 2, Konami could do little wrong. The pure football simulation they offered was great year after year, and solidified their deboted fanbase. On release of the XBOX 360, Konami had to create for the new wave of next-gen consoles, which resulted ... ...Then came the flawed PES2008, and now PES2009.
From the start, PES2009 disappoints. The presentation of menus is as needlessly confusing as it ever was, making navigation tedious. Then when you go to play a game, teams do not have their most recent transfers (i.e. Berbatov to Man Utd) which is not a disaster, but something you expect to not happen. The FIFA series always has updated teams, why not PES? PES2009 also has fewer licensed teams than ...

Graphic is much more better than in the previous versions of the game. Gameplay is good but you can be bored after some 500 matches. Commentary in my opinion is not on the level of the whole game. Also it lacks full team and players names. New type of play, which is: become a legend is something new but I don't find it really good. It is boring and playing the whole game with one player is in some way different from the idea of team game like football. ...

...with any other Pes game, Pro evolution 2009 is an enjoyable and exciting football game. For the Pes purest, there is no question that Pes 2009 is the greatest football game available. The gameplay remains loyal to the Pes format, with game modes such as master league, international cup and training. Online gameplay has been improved yet remains poor and laggy in comparison to its main rival, fifa 2009. Similarly, FIFA 2009 provides many more online features, although these do require extra purchases to be made.
In my opinion, Pes 2009 is an extremely enjoyable game, particularly when played with friends in offline mode and from my experience is a must for any student. Pes 2009 ...

The Wii box includes everything you need to hook the system up to a standard television: the Wii console, a wireless controller with nunchuk adaptor, the sensor bar, a cradle (for mounting the console vertically), the Wii's modestly sized power adaptor, and a set of composite AV cables. Unfortunately, composite cables don't support the Wii's top progressive-scan resolution of 576p, so HD Ready TV owners will want to also purchase a set of Wii component cables (sold separately).

Manufacturer's product description
It's back, and this years Pro Evolution Soccer has been reworked from the ground up! New player models, AI elements and physics routines all combine to create the most advanced and realistic football game ever, but at the heart of PES 2009 are two new modes designed to make players rethink the way they approach the game.
'PES Unites' is the key phrase Konami is using to sum up the ethos of the new game. PES 2009 also improves on its many existing game modes and adds a number of new ways to play the game. Central to this is the new 'Become a Legend' solo mode, which casts the user as a midfielder or striker within a match. Using a default vertical camera view, the player starts as a rookie pro at the start of their career, and charts the many highs and lows of becoming a professional player. An extension of the popular 'Fix' mode, the 'Become a Legend' mode sees the player operate in their favoured attacking position, and work as part of the overall team as opposed to controlling every member as in a normal game.
If successful, the player must first cement their place in the starting line-up with strong performances, before catching the eye of bigger clubs and earning a move to top flight teams. Of course, results are everything in modern day football, and players must force their way into contention or face lengthy stints as a substitute or eventually be forced to take a step down to a smaller club if performances are not good enough. The 'Become a Legend' mode has already proved a massive hit in Japanese versions of PES since 2007, and is certain to enjoy similar status across Europe.
PES 2009 also boasts an online variant of the 'Become a Legend' mode, entitled simply 'Legends.' Players can use their saved player in online matches with like-minded friends, and can show their skills on the larger online stage.
The PES series has always been famed for its deep yet accessible control system, but the new game is aiming even higher. PES 2009 offers an unprecedented level of control, redefining the intricacies of first touch, close control and ball distribution, while also enhancing its shooting and AI mechanisms to create an all-round footballing experience. Konami's Tokyo-based Pro Evolution Soccer Production Team has introduced new control systems wherein the player can now perform tricks and feints without the use of special moves, but within the context of the player's run and via rapid turns and movements of the Dpad or analogue stick.
Likewise, the way the player guides the ball has been changed. The PES series has always treated the ball as a separate entity, but new calculations related to the air resistance and friction of the ground make passing and movement in PES 2009 a great deal more realistic. Different weather conditions will now have a more pronounced effect on the weight and movement of passes, with players having to compensate for more heavy conditions in poor weather.
