sequel better it? Thankfully, it does. The first thing that strikes you about Pro Evolution Soccer 2--an anglicised version of the Japanese Winning Eleven 6--is how much faster it is, not just in terms of the pace of your players but also their ability to turn more sharply when receiving the ball. In another clear attempt to up the tempo of the game, which some more arcade-orientated gamers complained was too slow and fiddly, players now recover much more quickly when they lose the ball--so there's no waiting around for them to have a slice of orange before they deign to take part in the match again. And they need to be a bit sharper on their pins because it's now much more difficult to tackle and conversely you have a lot more control when dribbling the ball. There are other minor changes, such as a slightly odd new horizontal camera option, but basically this is bigger, better and more. Just in case you've forgotten, that's bigger, better and more of the best football game ever, so if you like your footy you really will want to be purchasing this. --David Jenkins

4. The presence of an on-screen referee is perhaps the game's most obvious new feature. What's more, this twenty-third being on the pitch is more intelligent than his invisible predecessors: advantages are played more frequently and the fairness of decisions is improved. Another welcome new feature is that of player-specific special moves, whereby only certain gifted footballers will have outlandish tricks in their repertoire--very much in keeping with real life. Although there was little room for improvement over Pro Evolution Soccer 3's supreme gameplay, Konami has seemingly found it. Dribbling has been given especial attention; the result is tighter control. Crosses, too, are now easier to perform exactly as desired. Also, penalty kicks and free kicks offer increased accuracy with their adoption of a new control system. Some 136 club sides, including all 56 teams of the Spanish, Italian and Dutch leagues (these are officially licensed) are on offer in Pro Evolution Soccer 4, as well as 50-odd national teams. Typically, this new version of Pro Evolution is the most comprehensive to date--the new season in videogame football kicks off in spectacular fashion. --Jonti Davies
Advantages: Great gameplay Disadvantages: Not FiFApro licenses
...Pro evolution soccer 2 is the latest in the award winning series by Konami. After making games for PS, PS2 and GameCube, Konami still seem to be going strong even after lacking in certain areas, such as player names, kits, logos.
The actaul game is great. It starts with a multilingual language support for 6 new languages and then a great new look video. The bsoundtrack being "We will rock you" is a sign that it's going to be good. The Opening sequence ... ...the game are the FIFA pro licenses are missing for both international teams and club teams. The team names are even wrong so this is a major setback in their quest to become the worlds greatest soccer game. The latest transfers such as RIO FERDINAND to MAN UTD are missing so thats a minus too, but overall the game still lives up to high expextations predicted beforehand.
The game being a sequel is based on the original in that the bare bones of ...

A Golden Goal Review ofPro Evolution Soccer 2 (PS2)by

Advantages: most realistic game on market to date Disadvantages: one or two minor in game annoyances.
...match commentary. Whilst Pro Evolution 2 has a great amount to offer players in single player mode, a variety of cups and leagues as well as the new umbro pro training centre, and the ability to unlock secret teams (a good few more than PES1) for me it is still the multiplayer game which keeps me coming back for more. The game has been tightened up so it is harder to thrash players who have only played a few matches as it really has become a lot ... ...the game more challenging and enjoyable. Always great for an hour or so even when you have exhausted all the single player options.
All the features of the first game such as player creation and editing have been included this time around with the much needed and greatly appreciated team editing option now added (finally no more LONDON instead of Arsenal) so you can create your own players and save them with a memory catridge giving the game that ...

Advantages: Can play on it for hours! Disadvantages: Fairly old, soon 2 be a new one out
...the nationwide league teams), the Pro Evolution Soccer gang have done it again, with the brilliant, entertaining and extremely addictive Pro Evolution 2! Just whilst you were worrying about having to watch Tim Henman dither with Wimbledon and play in it for a week and a half, the football experts have brought you right back on to the edge of your seat again!
Although this game was brought out quite a while ago, I thought it was important to remind ... ...have the rest of the Pro Evolution Soccer games (even the ones that came out on the PS1) you can still see how each new release has been that little bit extra. I dont think ill be the only one who'll say that this version is miles better than any of the others that ive played!
The downsides of the game are of course that alot of signings which were made during the season havent been made, and a few of the transfers which were made before last season ...

...of you who don't know Pro Ev 2 is a football simulation game to end all footie sims. It is the sequel to the best selling pro ev 1 which was spawned from the International Superstar Soccer range. It is quite simply the only football game worth playing on any games system you care to name and heres why:
The stats on which the players attributes are based in this game comes from the same people that provide them for Champ Manager the undisputed king ... ...its worth the damage.
Pro Ev 2 goes for about £20 these days (try Gameplay) and is well worth it for anyone interested in football at all. If you've got the first game its still worth it for more teams and better master league, smoother, quicker gameplay and the ability to actually score freekicks as well! I for one am looking forward to the third version of the game due for release on 28th Novemeber this year. Lets hope its another stormer and ...

Advantages: Smooth gameplay, entertaining "faults" Disadvantages: Outclassed by newer versions
What is it that makes Pro Evolution Soccer 2 so enjoyable?
Firstly, and most sensibly, it is the awesome gameplay. The graphics run smoothly and the detail is impressive without being overdone. It is realistic not only visually but also in the action; not every 30 yarder will go in, but the odd one will! A passing move will flow, free kicks are fun once you get the hang of them, you can learn little tracks, but all without making the game overly ... ...national teams or club teams, providing the first of the game's "entertaining faults". Some might complain about the lack of real club names but for me, I like it. West Ham United are inexplicably called Lake District; completely the wrong end of the country, Aston Villa are called Dublin; completely the wrong country, and Manchester United are called Aragon... which just seems to be completely made up!
Player names are also quite entertainly jumbled ...

...FIFA Football 2003 is the third title of the FIFA series for PS2. FIFA's previous titles on PS2 have not lived up to the quality of ProEvolutionSoccer will things be any different this time?
In FIFA 2003 you can play as your desired team on a variety of modes. The first one is The Club Championship which has the top 18 clubs in Europe slogging it out for the biggest prize in the game. This is a fun mode if you support any of the top teams like Manchester United or Celtic. It's basically a league format with each team playing twice and the top 8 teams progress to the Quarter Finals which is the knockout stage.
You can also play Season Mode for a 5 year run at making it to the top. Or if you prefer just plain old Exhibiton mode. There is also a Tounement mode aswell.
The game is good because you have all the official...

Advantages: The best football game ever Disadvantages: Improper player names
...player names. It just doesn't seem the same when Rivoldi shoots and his shot is blocked by Roberto Larcos. Still, the superb gameplay more than makes up for this minor flaw.
If i had to sum up this game in three words, it would be ' complete football heaven '. Overall, i would rate ProEvolutionSoccer as one of the best PS2 games in all categories and definitely the best sports game. No true PS2 gamer should be without this superb title. If you dont have it then buy it now. Konami have done themselves proud with this title. Bring on ProEvolutionsoccer2 !

Advantages: PS2 = Great selection of games XBox = great power Disadvantages: PS2 = easily breakable XBox = no FFX not as good selection of games as PS2
...I am trying to compare two great consoles, and its so hard to tear them apart, but in this review, I'm going to try and peel back the layers and try to pick a winner, at first I will say PS2 is better as I have one, but lets see at the end shall we.
PS2 Advantages:
1. Great selection of games, it must have at least 500 by now, but I'm not sure. PS2 have such games as Final Fantasy X, a personal favourite of mine, and also the two great games made by Konami, ProEvolutionSoccer series and Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2. Also Grand Theft Auto 3 was brought out on PS2 a lot earlier than on XBox. So if people really loved that game they would have bought a PS2 as there was no indecation that it was being brought out on XBox. There are also many other great games on PS2, but it'll take ages to say them all so I'll leave it as that.
2. Easy...
