~ The kit ~

You get the cd repair too itself which is motorised, you get the adapter, cd sanding discs, cd buffing discs and cleaning fluid. It comes in a nice flat box that is easy to store after use.



~ How it works ~

This is slightly different to the worlds No1 cd ...
...cd walkman, you put the sanding discs in first and then put the scratched cd in with label facing up. Close the lid, plug power in and the press the on button.
The tool will start sanding the disc to remove the scratch and will be done in three minutes, once finished take a look at cd and if repaired then swap the sanding discs out with buffing discs. If it is not repaired sand it until scratch is repaired.

Having reviewed the No 1 in the world cd repair tool and found out it was a flop and waste of money, I have tried a few other techniques. This review is on the Procare CD/DVD repair kit found at Maplin and possibly other stores.

This is slightly different to the worlds No1 cd repair tool in that it appears to look like a cd walkman, you put the sanding discs in first and then put the scratched cd in with label facing up. Close the lid, plug power in and the press the on button.
The tool will start sanding the disc to remove the scratch and will be done in three minutes, once finished take a look at cd and if repaired then swap the sanding discs out with buffing discs. If it is not repaired sand it until scratch is repaired.
Once repaired put fluid on the fixed disc, pop it back in so that the buffer discs clean it for you.

Through a few uses I can honestly say it definitely fixes cd's better than the worlds No1 cd repair tool, I have fixed a few cd's both normal and small sized.

This will only fix light scratches on first attempt and may fix deeper scratches by repeating process, this will not fix deep scratches. Without havign a scale showing what are light, medium and deep scratches it is hard to explain.

The good thing about this repair tool is that you can see it has actually worked when you pull the cd out, it has spiral shaped sanding patterns from where the surface has been removed.

To date I have fixed music cd's, dvd's, gamecube and pc games. Don't expect a miracle but it does work.

When repairing the mini cd's/dvd's I have noticed it tends to only repair the edges or at least 1cm from edge to middle. Not sure if it is my model only or simply the pressure is wrong for small discs.

~ Cost ~

Compared to the leading cd repair kits I think this is very good value, the kits cost £25 but replacement pad kits only cost £5 as opposed to leading brand kits costing £10.

~ Summary ~

A good little piece of kit if you have a few cd's that have light scratches you would like to remove, for medium sized scratches you will have to do it a few times and although it won't remove it, it will round the scratch off making it readable. This will not work for deep scratches.
When you look at the cost, it is a fantastic price compared to leading brands that in my opinion don't work.
