Review of Thermaltake Bigwater 745 by
Dave1508
Advantages: Massive cooling, ease of installation
Disadvantages: could need a big case
...the case (I have a thermaltake Kandalf so it's pre made for it), with the pump/resevoir sitting on the case floor. As you can see the 240mm radiator comes with aluminium feet, and can be situated up to 2 thirds of a meter away (Measure using the fan connector lead). The water block is heafty, twice the copper of the aquagate, with larger cuts in the block for water flow.
To the point, when I switched it up, it managed to cut the temperature by 10 ... ...where you have the large rad situated. Also the smaller rad has an adjustable fan speed controller and will affect the overall temperature. The temperature is also fairly stable, not increasing with time, it will reach 30 on tickover and remain there no matter how long you have the machine running. Compared with the far more expensive waterchill systems this is a bargain, you won't be dissapointed ...

Big, Blue and Brilliant
Review of Thermaltake Blue Orb II by
Dave1508
Advantages: Impressive cooling, near silent, good value
Disadvantages: Heavy, can be too large for some cases
...fan (Excude the pun) of thermaltake equipment. Good solid build quality that dosen't cost the earth.
I got this beast to cool an LGA 775 3.2Ghz, with the quiet nature of a 120mm fan in mind. Knowing how big the fans are I was still suprised at the size of the thing when it arrived, being 140-150mm wide. This will exlude it from some cases as it is pretty close to the edge of my motherboard (Abit), and may interfere with the Power supply. However ... ...such problems there. It is also fairly heavy at about 0.9Kg and therefore requires installing when the motherboard is horizontal, ensuring the clips are tight before placing in the case.
Once in it is an impressive cooler, from the blue glow of the LED's to the near silent cooling of the fan. It recorded a drop of 13 degrees on a reference intel cooler, keeping it at below 45 degrees even on full chat.
So there you go, a cracking cooler if you ...

Can't go wrong
Review of Zalman CNPS 9700 LED by
furblesnick
Advantages: works, is quiet
Disadvantages: none
...like quiet PCs will know Zalman products. The ZALMAN 9700 LED is a cooler for the CPU and it is compatible with the following chipsets: Socket 754, Socket 940, Socket 775, Socket 939, Socket AM2
Performance
I don't have any temperature comparisons with other coolers but it's sat on top of my Core 2 Duo 6600 and is very quiet indeed, plus I can barely get the CPU temp over 35 degrees even on a hot day playing a 3d game. I should point out ... ...LEDs in it, so as it spins in the dark, it looks cool too. Conclusion
The ZALMAN 9700 LED is a high quality super quiet, vibration free, highly efficient CPU cooler. It does its job and looks cool at the same time. I recommend it unreservedly. ...

cooling on a budget
Review of Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro by
sim_simian
Advantages: cheap and quiet
Disadvantages: installation nightmare
I bought this cooler the other day on Amazon and it arrived today, thankfully 20 minutes after my new cpu did. The first thing that struck me was that the fan is positioned to the side of the heatsink rather than on top of it. Thus blowing hot air through the fins of the heatsink, which has the added advantage of cooling the electical transistors on the motherboard. The heatsink also came with thermal paste already in place which made things easier. ... ...pc) this seems so quiet, its unbelievable. A few times today I have thought the pc was not coming on because I could nt hear anything. In fact I never realised my hard drive made so much noise. So a few hours in and no problems and very happy with the product.
That said all was not "sunshine and lollipops", the installation was a complete nightmare. Now I have never changed a heatsink before but having looked at some on-line guides, I thought how ...

Not the best Zalman cooler on the market.
Review of Zalman CNPS 8000 by
cport80
Advantages: Supports both AMD & Intel chips
Disadvantages: Quirky intel clip, not the quietest fan.
...out of stock of another Zalman cooler.
It is a copper based heatsink with copper heat pipes which connect to a steel fan assembly with the fan on top (as pictured). It is supplied with supporting clips for both 754/775 and socket 939/940 and you have to fix the right one according to your set-up.
The Intel clip felt as though I was going to break it before I would get the two sides of the clip to seperate and I eventually prised it open with a ... ...cleaner.
I ended up using an old aero cooler off its heatsink with a manual speed controller to increase air-flow through the case to keep the same temerature limit while running the Zalman fan at 2000rpm which cut the sound levels significantly. Not the solution I had originally intended. ...
