...difference with my old heat sink isn't so much the temperature, but the fan speed, which has been reduced by 1000 RPM. The CPU would be cooler, but I have my BIOS running the fan speed to match the temperature, and as the danger temperature is 65c for my Athlon X2, 37-40c seems like a good temperature to keep it at, while keeping the fan down to 1300 rpm. Advantages: Very low temperatures, Quite and vibration-free.
Disadvantages: It can get very dusty after a while.

The V8 is truely a monster cooler, yet deadly quiet with it.

Advantages: Large, quiet, easy to fit
Disadvantages: Rather large

I just bought and upgraded my PC, abandoning AMD and moving to Intel's Core i7 CPU. As a result, I wanted to buy a heatsink that would do the job and offer me overclocking abilities in the future. Being a geek it was a must to abandon the standard heatsink and opt for something more jazzy. Having already owned a Coolermaster PSU and finding it very reliable/quiet and also just purchasing a Coolermaster case, I thought i'd stick with a known quantity ...
...it this heatsink is enormous, so if you are considering it make sure you have a good sized case. Luckily for me i have a Coolermaster Tower case (HAF 932) but the V8 still dominates it.
