Profit from Property gives a practical guide to all noivce property developers on what to do and more importantly what not to do when developing a property for profit. Author, Sarah Beeny has had huge success from the Channel 4 show Property Ladder where she follows would-be property developers from the initial purchase of their property right through to the end of the renovation.
Profit from property mixes case studies from the show, with Sarah's lengthy experience of property developing to create a step by step guide to developing property for profit.
I myself follow the show religiously so when I saw that Sarah was bringing out this book it was a must have. I have always been very keen to go into property developing and felt that this book would be a grea starting point for real and practical advice.
The book is split into two parts. Part 1 deals with how to get onto the property ladder, covering areas such as: The practicalities of buying Buying to develop Buying to Let Managing property. Part 2 looks at developing your property covering: Design basics Selling your property.
There is also a really useful resource section with some really useful address and websites covering all aspects of property pitfalls such as mortgages, land registery and surveys.
The book is really easy to follow and you do not need to have any knowledge of property developing to be able to follow and understand Sarah's advice. It is a great tool for anyone both researching property developing or those already in the thick of it.
Each Chapter is clearly broken down into bitesize sections, for example. The practicalities of buying is broken down into:
Where to start Finding the right property How to spot a good buy Leashold and freehold Funding your purchase The Survey Buying in Scotland and Ireland.
There are also highlighted Property Pointer areas giving small tips to help you and Sarah Suggests boxes which give other handy tips that Sarah Beeny recommends as good practice.
Each chapter is given further depth by drawing on Case Studies from the Property Ladder series - you do not need to have watched the programme to be able to mke sense of the case studies as all the background details are clearly laid out.
The layout of the book is clear, with plenty of pictures, tables and guides to break up the freeflow of text. There is even a works checklist page for you to complete if you have already brought a property and are now in the process of deciding what renovations need to be made. This is split room by room for space to include costs, ideas and materials needed.
Although I am nowhere near ready to buy my first property for developing I have found this a really useful and interesting book with some excellent practical advice mixed with really interesting case studies.
This is certainly a must have for anyone interested in developing property for profit. I brought my copy from Amazon priced 12.99. Sarah has also written a second book - The property developers Bible which is equally as good but does cover a lot of the same ground. Look out for a review of that book coming soon!

thanks for the review, hope that the book is as rivetting as your review! must get the book, but have already got the Property Devloper's Bible from Sarah Beeney- so maybe i don't need to get it if you say they cover a lot of the same ground?
