I had Project Gotham 3 for the xbox 360 and it was one of my favourite games, so when I heard about Project Gotham four coming out I was really excitied.
I bought this game on the first day of release from Game for £39.99 and couldn't wait to start racing.
PGR4 is all about style. The Kudos system awards you points for driving with style and flair. Long powerslides around sweeping bends through to driving on only two wheels. The kudos you earn from racing can be used to buy new vehicles and also new tracks.
The weather conditions are a great addition to the game and the weather can even change in the middle of your race. This makes the game much more realistic. Dense fog, ice, snow and lots and lots of rain are examples of the weather conditions you find yourself driving through and each affects your vehicle in a different way.
Visually , the game is stunning. The environments and cars look fantastic and the water effects on the tracks look amazing!
There are also a lot more car choices than the previous PGR. Especially in the lower performace end. The cars handling is also good.
A good addition to the game are the choice of driving in cars or motocycles. There is a good choice of motocycles to choose from and they are good for earning kudos on as you get a lot of points for doing wheelies.
In addition to earning medals for beating challenges in the arcade mode or beating lap times in the time attack mode, there's plenty to do in career mode. The events in career are based on a calender so there will only be a selection of races available at a time. As with PGR3 the races comprise of different challenges such as hot lap, cone challenges, eliminator, gate challenges, kudos vs. time, and standard street races.
The online play is great fun. You can race in single and team events in a variety of race types such as elimination, street race, cat and mouse, and the new bulldog mode.
The soundtracks for the game are varied. World, rock, hip hop, jazz, and classical tunes are all in the game.
There are 50 achievements in the game.
Overall I think this is the best racing game on the 360. The gameplay is great and the graphics make this game better than I expected.
