MY DADDIES GOT A BIG ONE Advantages: its wicked Disadvantages: well its not top of the range Absolutely blew us away at first having upgraded from a 19" TV. The picture looks great, I sit about 10' away from it and it looks just as crisp as any regular tube TV, when you get as close as like 6' the picture quality starts to diminish, but that's damn close. Also if you are looking from high above the screen (maybe from far below if you are standing it on something) the brightness decreases. It looks great from sitting on the floor or on a ... ...(who would watch TV like this anyway). Remote is pretty good as it should be (my dad already has 5 remotes), as are the menu features. Looks great with using the component video inputs from a DVD. Of it's built in picture types I almost always use movie, colors look better to me in that mode. Best bang for your buck TV Advantages: Price, 50 inches, HD, 2 HDMI, SCART, HD-15, great picture quality Disadvantages: Cannot be watched standing up close (i.e. 1M) Excellent value for money as you will not get 50 inches for less, be it plasma or LCD. Has excellent picture quality, especially on HD channels and content, SD quality is largely derived from the signal quality and a lower resolution on such a large screen has to show some sacrifices, it's very watchable though without complaints unless your a picky fella. Comes with built-in Freeview decoder. The 3D comb filter does a nice job of improving a subpar ... ...more smooth. Sound quality and loudness is very good even though it's only 2x 10W RMS, still very loud and sound isn't distorted at higher volume levels. They say the projection bulb needs replacing every 4000-8000 hours or use however I believe this depends on how bright its set and also its operating temperature. Even at 55% brightness, the TV is a joy to view and within the secret service menu, the bulb temperature is only reported as 22C so ... Excellent product, awful after-sales support Advantages: Everything about this TV is amazing! Disadvantages: Awful Sony Support ...I have encountered is with Sony itself. Their support used to be fantastic, and this was one of the major factors that influenced my decision to buy the TV. However, it seems that in the past few years they have gradually become worse and worse, to the point that they now appear to refuse a ridiculous proportion of support calls simply because they do not see enough profit in them! They appear to have absolutely no Customer Care anymore - they really ... ...was talking to several Sony suppliers almost all of them told me that they actually didn't want the Sony contract anymore, as it was costing them more in dissatisfied customers than it was making!
