I bought a Proton Wira 1.3L in August 1997 and have since had over four years virtually trouble-free motoring. This product is produced by the Malaysian automobile manufacturer Proton (Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Berhad), who are also the major shareholders in the British-based Lotus company. ... Proton Wira, A Good Buy

AdvantagesEconomical. Reliable. Comfortable. Comes with Warranty

DisadvantagesFaulty temperature gauge. A tad underpowered.

"I bought a Proton Wira 1.3L in August 1997 and have since had over four years virtually trouble-free motoring. This product is produced by the Malaysian automobile manufacturer Proton (Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Berhad), who are also the major shareholders in the British-based Lotus company. Understandably it is hugely popular in its country of origin but has also been exported to UK, Australia, Singapore, Brunei, the Middle East and various other ..." Read review

Proton Wira 1,6 automatic

AdvantagesLess expensive than imported cars

DisadvantagesEverything else

"...I was provided with a Proton Wira 1,6 automatic as a company car. The choice of cars in Malaysia is limited by the huge (about 125%) import duty on imported cars which must be paid by all except members of the national and local governments who have voted themselves a concession to import luxury cars tax-free and thereby avoid the local products they inflict on their fellow countrymen. General The Wira is a badge-engineered version of an older ..." Read review

The Proton Wirra 1.5 Lxi

AdvantagesGood price, excellent reliability, super comfort, good looker.

DisadvantagesRear windscreen wiper not a perfect fit. Instruction manual is for several of the proton cars so it needs a bit of checking.

"I purchased the Wirra 1500cc in September 2003 and have been delighted with it ever since. A 5 seater Hatchback, fairly powerfull engine, The Wirra both looks and feels classy enough to satisfy anyone without a lot of readies ( Cash ) and most important of all drives very easily. Mine is a classy Silver Blue but there is a good choice of colours 9 in total, the red one was tempting but the silver blue looked just that bit different INTERIOR ..." Read review

the best in its class

Advantagesaffordable ,economical and spacious

Disadvantagesquality could be better enhanced

"...to settle for the Malaysian Proton car when I wanted to purchase a new car. After consulting friends who are using the 3 most popular Proton models, - Perdana, , Wira and Waja and based on their feedback , I found that the Wira is the best in its class. The Perdana is posh of course with its classy looks but is too pricey for me. So it was either the Waja or the Wira.Though the Wira is lower priced ,it is the better car. It is spacious and the features ..." Read review

Proton Wira 1.5

AdvantagesLast long, reasonably priced, spaces

DisadvantagesAirconditioner

"I started to drive this car 3 years ago, I got the car from my mum, she used it for many years (more than 5 years). When the time i got this car, the performance was still fairly good (of course periodically service is essential) and powerful. (unlike some cars, when you try to accelerate, those cars move slowly like turtles, argh.. ) What I meant by powerful is when you try to accelerate you can feel the "power" that "pushing" your car forward. However, ..." Read review
