This is my third year with the Pru .Being ever optimistic , I took time out both on the WWW and via telephone , to get quotes from many of the various other insurers out there that are all eager to get their hands on your hard earned dosh.
Quite a few of these big name companies, eg. Endsleigh , Commercial Union & Churchill to name a few , have TV adverts popping up , what seems every five minutes .The Pru , are now joining this bandwagon , having lost its door to door salesmen in what is now a standard policy with all companies ( Ciao included ) - restructuring ( ie. reducing costs ) .
In getting my quotes for car insurance , none came close with initial quotes , although Endsleigh did beat the Pru quote when directly approached at their high street shop . This offer did however have to be taken then and there ( and I do mean on the spot ) , and with conditions attached .So why stay with the Pru ? Well you get the usual standard terms of any insurance , however the extra's are what make this insurance special , namely :
1) FREE 'Green Flag' cover - UK & EuropeNow this I can recommend , on a recent day out to the beach , with all the kids , oops I locked my keys in the car - shit ! Anyway a quick phone call to Green Flag ( giving only minimal details as I didn’t have them all to hand ) , and within the hour ( it was a bank holiday Monday ) , they arrived , and using methods quite normal to them , but frightening to me , promptly opened my car , and retrieved my keys . COST TO ME - £0.00 yes nothing at all . Had I not had this cover , probably a bill in excess of £50.00 I bet .
2) Low excesses : Ie.the amount you have to pay towards any claim :£100.00 for theft
£ 40.00 for windscreen and glass *
£ 50.00 for accidental damage
Before taking out a policy with anyone else , check out their charges for such !
4) Twelve ( yes 12 ) months interest free payment scheme , without any hefty deposit required . All you need is the direct debit ability . Of course you can always use you Credit Card or cheque to pay in full , but why ?
5) No Claims Discount :Pru. discounts are as follows :
1 year claim free - 35%6) English quote , by that I mean is easy to comprehend , with little or no specialist jargon , that others tend to throw in the works ! What you see / read is what you get , ie. Great Value
As for customer service , you may have to wait a while on the phone , but they will ring back if required , and you are always receive VIP treatment .Additionally , if you have household insurance with them , or take out such a policy at the same time , I believe there is still a £10.00 1st year deduction that you can claim -just ask them for it .
