Advantages Advantages Java, Great Battery Life, MS Word, Excel & Outlook Compatible

Disadvantages Disadvantages Initial memory is limiting, modem not included.

I have owned a Psion 7 for a little over two years and have yet to see a PDA which comes close. It cost me £150 english pounds second hand and is still impressive. All I got with it was the PC Link cable and a power supply. The keyboard is superb, and this little puter is the perfect hybrid of PC and PDA. I have used it for various tasks from writting dissertations, creating stock control spreadsheets to developing HTML, JavaScript and writting and compiling Java programs. I belive C++ can be used also but I have yet to explore this fully. Best of all I havnt had to buy the software, its all ... more

Advantages Advantages Portability, long battery life, durability

Disadvantages Disadvantages Limited Internet Connectivity, somewhat dated

Indirectly, the Psion Series 7 is responsible for me finding ciao.co.uk in the first place; if a colleague from another website hadn't pointed out that someone had copied a review I'd written word for word on here six months ago, I'd have never seen the site. So, let's have a fresh, original review, eh? Released by Psion (now Psion Technologix) in 2000, the Series 7 was the latest in a lineage of unique looking Personal Digital Assistants. Like the Palm series, it came with an advanced colour touchscreen, though much, much larger; I have a Palm Zire 21 to compare to, and the screen is ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, compact and perfect

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not microsoft(but is that so bad?)

I got a series seven for my 18th birthday and have loved it ever since. The series seven basically does most of what a basic computer can do. It includes a wordprocesser, spreadsheet, e-mail, card index, and minesweeper. You can buy a modem and connect to the net, it includes a web broswer, there's also a sketch package(think early versions of paint), a way of making small, tinny sound recordings and a clock and world map. If this wasn't enough there's also a very good agenda package that lets you plan events, set alarms for important dates, and is supposed to synchronise with your PC (I don't ... more

    5 Stars Great M/c! 01/11/2000
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Small size, instant on/off, battery life, keyboard, touch screen

Disadvantages Disadvantages Limited software - (at the moment)

Great m/c!! I travel with my work - mainly abroad. Up to recently I carried a so-called laptop. What with all the cables, plugs, powerbrick etc, it had its own bag and weighed a ton! Just to be able to write reports, do the odd spreadsheet and access my email! So I bought a 7 - This m/c does everything I want. It's not a PC replacement - so don't expect the earth from the built-in software, although the word processor looks like a cut down version of Word, and the spreadsheet like Excel. It has a good address book, and a web browser and email client amongst other things - for a full review ... more

This is an impressive piece of kit from the boys and girls at Psion. Whereas their previous offerings were little more than an advanced personal organsisers with some added features this really is an excellent piece of hardware. The Major difference between this and its predecessor the series 6 is the new colour screen which can be access through touch alone. This is an excellent feature and one which has probably been added to enhance the new web surfing abilities which this device also offers. There is some excellent built in net connection software to handle this new demand in the form of ... more
