Psychology, Science of mind and behaviour
Advantages: Clear and concise Disadvantages: Doesn't go into enough detail required for a 1st degree
I am currently doing a psychology degree and this book has been a life saver. Really useful for general basic information to allow you to research certain areas in more depth. Would highly recommend for use for a degree.
It covers a large number of areas which is great, BUT only downside I suppose is that in order to gain a 1st in my degree I don't think it goes in to enough details. But then no 'general' books really do I suppose. I'd give it 5/5 ...

The Secret Revealed
Advantages: Motivating, Realistic, Enlightening Disadvantages: None
...thanks to Rhonda for revealing the Secret that all of us have been overlooking since long. The simple stories, examples and quotes help digesting the truths we often tend to ignore. Perhaps people have grown like that because once you agree that whatever happens in your life, you have to take the responsibility, then there is no way for you to find an excuse. Hence, easier it is to look for excuses and avoid facing the truth - the Law of Attraction. ... ...it's a must for the positive thinkers - to boost their confidence by relating own thoughts to the universal laws. Also, this book needs to be translated across the globe to reach every level of population, as the principles apply to all, irrespective of region, age, sex, background, and all. ...

...in counselling.
Having been in counselling myself for over 2 years I felt that I would like to look further into the skills and practices involved with a veiw to studying it further.
Am very pleased I read this book as it covers a whole range of topics.
The story follows the traditional Wind in the Willows characters, Toad and fellows. Toads fellows are worried he may do something silly and so take him to The Heronry to meet Heron , the counsellor. ... ...to someone very happy and back on a "normal" track.
The sessions are given in chapters which make sit easy to follow and read giving a great insight into how counseling progresses and how the relationship between counsellor and patient evolves. This is a fabulous book for anyone interestes in counselling, therapy or just a general interest in how the mind can and does work. Totally recommended !! ...

In your dreams, pal
Advantages: A wonderful book which contains almost everything Disadvantages: Your friends will be on the phone daily asking you to interpret their dreams too!
...you may have guessed from the title of the book this book is about, well, um Dreams. It is in fact an A-Z Glossary of all kinds of dreams and their meanings. Book review over, what do you mean you want more? Oh all right then.
For as long as I can remember I have been interested in Dreams and always wanted a dream book to refer to. Well, as usual with those sort of things, I never did buy one, I always had something better to spend my money on.
... ...said. Well five years on the boyfriend has gone, but the book is still with me, and well thumbed it is too.
At the beginning of the book there is a small introduction to dreams, how you can seperate dreams into their different classes, (yes there is more than one kind), and how to accurately interpret these dreams.
This is a really important part of the book, although some people tend to skip the intros, if you miss this one you will never understand ...

What are you trying to tell me?
Advantages: mildly interesting Disadvantages: only mildly interesting
...into here and there. More the sort of thing someone should have bought me for christmas.
It helpfully tells us on the front cover that is was written by the 'Big Brother' resident psychologist Peter Collet and reminds us on the back that it's 'as seen on t.v.'
It's easy to tell its not a great in-depth academic book as it's printed in larger than normal print to try and pad it out a bit and look like your're getting something worthy.
It's thirteen ... ...looked for in poker, and the name 'tell' comes from poker. These are -

I think that most people, with a little thought, could have written a book not too disimilar to this off the top of their heads. There's not much here we don't ...
