Every parent knows that trying to get their child to want to brush their teeth is a hard job, so once you’ve got them to the bathroom the key is how to make them stay long enough to convince them that brushing really isn’t that big a deal and can taste good too?

I have tried but a few children’s toothpastes for my daughter (so far) and am about to tell you about the latest addition to our bathroom beaker – Punch & Judy strawberry flavour children’s toothpaste.

It cost 99p for a 50ml tube in our local Savers store (also available at Wilkinson’s) and although nearly double the price of some other leading brand toothpastes that I use myself for this size tube, I am strict about sticking to specific children’s toothpastes for my daughter, as they recommend they use these until the age of 6.

^^^Directions for Use^^^

It is recommended that you use a small-headed toothbrush for children and these can be easily found in many shops (I recently bought a fun pack of 8 in Ethel Austin for 99p). You simply add a pea size amount of toothpaste to the brush and work around both the sides and the tops of the teeth for an average of 2 minutes. The tube recommends that to aid teaching you should stand behind your child and tilt their head back to see their mouth and teeth and that by only applying a small amount of toothpaste to the brush helps to aid minimal swallowing throughout and you should aim to brush twice a day, morning and night.

^^^Do we like it ?^^^

Yes we do. My daughter loves the smell and taste of it, as other strawberry toothpastes can smell a little like sick, which doesn’t exactly encourage them to welcome it into their mouths does it! As my daughter is still very young I mainly wash her teeth for her and stick to the twice daily regime, but I do let her take the brush on occasions and let her have a go herself whilst under my supervision (more like nagging!). The tube has a flip top lid and so is less hassle and mess than the screw lids and having colourful cartoon pictures on of Punch & Judy of course with little strawberries all around the top, it looks child-friendly rather than those with huge pictures of bright white teeth staring at you!!

Certainly brings back childhood memories, but I prefer the minty taste to strawberry... prefer my strawberries with cream nowadays! lol
