DAB radio was a stuff that I never dreamt of getting until when a friend recommended that to me some few months ago. Well I was strongly in doubt of the radio because of the shape that I never liked and the weight was too light for a radio. Well the DAB radio arrived some few years ago, which is capable of giving more than 50 local stations.
EASE OF USE. ---------------------- Well the DAB radio is a device that does not give problems in using because it is very easy to use and Manipulate. But the most important thing about the DAB radio is that it carries waves along with date and time information accurately and this has helped me in different occasions for accountability. It automatically scans the airwave for the date and time to come in a more accurate form and comfortably displays both features on the nice blue screen. Although that most of the in formations brought by the DAB does appear in a blue screen, it is far very bright for you to see it clearly. There are two brightness settings about the radio and they are so bright to the extent of giving bright light in the dark. So when put into the two bright light, it fills the whole space with blue beautiful bright light.
THE DEVICE. --------------------- The major function of the radio is to bring about clear signal and it also detects the station name. It has very brilliant sound quality although some times, there are tendencies that it might receive poor signal. You equally have the abilities to scroll text below the stations name including sports, news headline and song title equally. The chrono is very fantastic but one thing, it does not have FM reception and that I don't like. You can get the signals by setting to auto tune.
SOUND PERFOMANCES. ------------------------------------ The digital chrono is a sound creator and it does have steady reception unlike in some radio device that does not have their sound and signals steady. Well I am not surprised about the sound quality since it was created by band and olufsen one of the most prominent sound engineers in technology. Well the chrono DAB radio does not produce bass for music rather a stereo can do it for you. But the chrono has it right in speeches.
OTHER FEATURES. ---------------------------- The chromo has other nice features like the time display and the alarm. You can make the alarm to go off at various times and it can also differentiate between weekends and Weekdays with a very loud sound and it also have a large snooze button, which is located at the top of the machine. What I like most is the blue light display and when increases, brings about the beautiful blue bright colour.
VERDICT -------------- Well this device currently at about £59.20, which I bought it. But if you are looking for a nice alarm that will wake you up from the bed with a loud sound, this is the better one. But the price was too much for just alarm stuff but I forgot that it talks as well.

Bright time Review ofPure Digital Chronosby

I was quite quick to embrace the arrival of DAB radio a few years ago and then living in London, it gave me a choice of around sixty stations. At that time I had an am/fm clock radio and a separate DAB radio. Neither could properly perform the role of the other. Luckily there are now several DAB clock radios on the market and I opted for the Chronos by arguably the best manufacturer of DAB equipment, Pure.
What it looks like

DAB radio waves carry date and time information and this is very useful indeed for the Chronos. The first time you plug it in, it automatically scans the airwaves for the date and time and duly displays both on its blue screen. On the subject of the screen, ...

Advantages: Small, sleek, good alarm fucntions. Disadvantages: Sound quality could be better at high volumes.
I got this as a gift a year or so back, as I wanted a DAB radio to walk me up in the morning (to Planet Rock). This arrived in my stocking, and was exactly what I was looking for. It is a triangle shape, so it looks cool and sits on your bedside table nicely. It is handy here as the screen is constantly lit up even when off so you cans see the time, it has two brightness settings as well so you can have it to your taste but in all honesty the brighter ... ...a number of settings, primarily alarm settings as that is what it is designed for, so you can set a daily alarm, weekday alarm and weekend alarm which is very handy. It has all of the usual stuff like snooze buttons as well, so you can lay in bed for as long as possible before getting to to rush to get to where you need to be. As for sound quality, it is good enough for it's job, which is waking you up or just listening to the football or some casual ...

Advantages: very easy to set up Disadvantages: setting alarm a bit fiddly because of 4 alarm settings
This DAB radio is very stylish and looks great anywhere. The modern shape and stylish chrome colour make it very modern in look. You can plug it in and it sets the time and radio programmes instantly. Then you can easily change channels and it tells you the channel and even what track is playing. In our area there are 49 digital channels including all the local radio channels. You can only listen to digital radio but as all programmes you could want ... ...anything else. The only thing we found fiddly was setting the alarm because of the number of alarms available. You can wake to either radio or an alarm. There also also snooze and sleep settings so the radio will switch itself off.Once you had decided whether you wanted weekday, weekend or one off settings it became easier. We bought ours from eAtay for £64 and I must say it was very easy. The website was easy to use and ordering easy. Once I had placed ...

Disappointing Review ofPure Digital Chronosby

Advantages: good styling; auto clock setting; auto channel search Disadvantages: difficult instructions; unreliability; poor customer service
...my previous purchase of a Pure product, the instructions were difficult to follow and setting the alarm never leaves me confident that it will operate as I intended!
Setting clock and finding stations was easy. Sound quality OK for my purposes - I only want speech programmes - but unit vibrates at anything other than low volume.
Left the unit on for 10 minutes - sound then disappeared and substituted by loud whistling noise. Eventually found that ... ...the Pure service line - good that they dont use an exploitative 0870 number - but "no technician available"! Nobody phoned back - exactly my experience when I had to contact them six weeks ago with a defective Pure product. Customer service clearly not a priority for this company. ...

Advantages: Clean modern design, excellent audio quality, flexible Disadvantages: there may be a question over durability
...I'm an old duffer of 47 so I don't often get too excited about Christmas presents, this year was an exception, I knew Santa was bringing me a shiny new PureChronos CD DAB Alarm Clock.
Made by Pure, a division of Imagination Technologies who are responsible for the design of over 80% of the DAB chips found in all DAB radios in the UK, this is a smart, compact and high quality unit retailing at between £80 and £100.
I own one other DAB unit ( a TEAC) and by comparison the digital reception of the Chronos is terrific, it cleanly picks up well over 20 digital stations with little or no signal break and no external aerial. There is also the option of tuning FM stations should your favourite station not transmit in digital.
The design is neat and intuitive and I was pleased to see it came with a very easy to use remote control to...

Advantages: A very good range of functions and good sound Disadvantages: Poor reliability/quality control
...This product is potentially very good. It has just about everything you could want: DAB radio, multi-format CD player (including WMA compatibility), four separate fully programmable alarms, external imput, reasonably compact size for its versality, and good sound through the 1.5 inch x 3 inch speakers (if you set the bass level to maximum).
Basic setup of DAB radio channels is automatic, and there are the usual DAB extras like scrolling text so you can see information about the music currently playing. Provided the signal is at least good the digital sound is continuous without any dropouts. The menu system is mostly quite straightforward, though there are one or two functions you might not find simply by experimenting.
The fascia is a bit tacky with a very shiny plastic effect front and the keys require a very positive push...

Advantages: Very neat and compact unit which looks nice Disadvantages: Could be more sturdy
...Bought this PUREChronos CD DAB/FM/CD/MP3 Stereo Clock Radio - Black for my other half last year as she likes to listen to Story Audio Books on CD (Inspector Morse ect)
Very neat and compact unit which sits neatly on the bedside table and looks very smart and CD sound is excellent.
The reception is very good for FM and Dab with clear sound quality and a decent selection of stations.
Although there are many other features such as alarm,mp3 ect,we cannot comment on as these have not been used yet!
It also comes with a small remote control unit which is a bit flimsy and has not been used as the buttons are not very responsive and have to be pressed quite hard.
I have just ordered another of these for my daughter to replace her Ghetto Blaster!
A nice little unit for any bedroom or kitchen where space is an issue....
