“Pure Evoke-1 XT”

published 21/06/2007

Small, compact, good sound and quality

No batteries, mildly expensive

-Pure Digital Evoke-1XT Digital Audio Broadcasting Digital Radio- This is a small, compact DAB only digital radio, It is available in either cherry (slightly darker) or beech (lighter) wooden finishes and has an attractive blue back lit display. Sound of a radio is all important, because what you...

sound quality, ease of use, looks

black power cable, not truly portable

I asked my husband for a radio for Christmas 2004, because I’ve recently started spending a lot of time in the kitchen having become a fulltime housewife, and was going quietly mad without something to listen to (I have the attention span of a gnat). I asked for something cheap and cheerful...

More stations and better sound

No sleep timer, not truly portable.

All your favourite music on a new station! fantastic! That's right folks, only on DAB digital radio! Noooo! If like me you've had to endure all the advertising for radio stations that you would love to listen to, but had no access to a digital radio, then you will understand how frustrating it...

Crisper clearer sound

Not battery powered

I have always loved listening to the radio and I`m sure you can imagine my delight when Digital Radios came on the market promising a better quality of sound and access to at least 40 radio stations many of which cannot be heard on a normal analogue/stereo radio. My first purchase of a Technics...

“Pure Evoke DAB Radio”

published 30/01/2004

Ease of use, clarity of sound

Mono, no battery powered facility

They've been around for a while now, and I finally decided to splash out £99.99 for a Pure DAB radio just before Christmas '03. The promise of static free sound and ease of use in a protable package were the main factors I considered in addition to hoping for a decent overall quality of sound. So...

Great sound from a small compact unit

No battery capability

I recently received this radio as a prize from a survey i participated in. As i received it free im not sure about the price but belive it to be worth around the £90 mark if purchased through amazon, but you may be able to obtain it cheaper if you shop around. The model i have is the cherry wood...

“Pure Digital - Pure Sound!!”

Listen to the radio without the hiss!

It has to be plugged in to a socket

How did we live without digital radio?????? It is great to listen to the radio without any hiss or the tuning going out slightly. OK, well occasionally we get bad reception with the digital radio, but nothing that the aerial doesn't sort out. The variety of stations available is great - something...

Sound quality, style, ease of use

extra speaker costs extra

I have had an EVOKE 1XT for 6 months. STYLING It stood out from other digital radio because of it's original styling. The 'beech effect' case and silver facia gives it a retro look, but it is packed with the latest digital radio technology. EASE OF USE Right from the start, it was easy to use...

Great sound and looks

Mains powered only

I was looking for a "bedside" radio to replace an elderly Sony device, mainly to listen on headphones to BBC radio 4 and World Service late at night. I got a great deal on the Pure Evoke 1XT at Tesco for £84.99 and it has proved to be an excellent buy. It was very easy to tune to the stations...

extra stations,clear sound

very disappointing sound for price

Having read encouraging reviews here and elsewhere I finally decided to splash out £99.99 on a pure evoke 1 portable radio. Yes there are several extra stations ,it looks good and the sound is clear and crackle free . But If I'm going to spend that much on any radio I want a better sound quality...
