Tranny Man to Digital Dude! 11 of 12 Ciao Users found the following review helpful

Advantages Looks, build, quality

Disadvantages Having LW in another room displays the digital time lag but also the gulf in sound quality

My wife had got bored of me carrying around a battered old transister radio so got me an Evoke 2 for my birthday. The tranny was too old to review here or anywhere that isn't a seventies retro site!

It's a cracking machine and I am now converted to the Digital broadcast age. She chose well after some research buying from Amazon, who she was more than happy with. The exact cost remains a secret, I know better than to ask!

Once I'd had a fiddle about pre-setting it - not the simplest of tasks for a techno-phobe like myself - I have been happy ever since. I only listen to a handful of stations and even with the wider range that digital provides I am more than catered for by the 6 pre-sets. Other more picky/exciting folk may feel that number is somewhat lacking.

The sound quality is excellant and for a wee box it can pump out the volume. The display is good and easy to read.

I use it statically so can't report on mobile use or battery life.

It's looks are subtle and thus can blend into a range of decors. It doesn't look as good as my old Bakerlite radio, (which looks truly superb), but then again it sounds better, (which is difficult), and there won't be any problems with the valves!

Enjoy

Welcome to Ciao! I recently converted to the digital age with a purchase of a Pure Elan. If you familiarise yourself with other reviews you will notice that more detail is required to get a higher rating, but otherwise this is a good, well laid out review.
