Well my husband wanted DAB radio, we looked and looked but after some time I thought lets make the next step and go for one with internet radio,this would solve any porr DAB signal moments plus one of my husbands favourite radio shows is internet called "the arrow" used to be DAB only but now internet only.
Anyway we shopped arrond and we purchased this for £111.
The main disadvantage is although it can be battery powered you have to purchase and additional recharable battery called a PURE e1 at the cost of around £30 so if you want it cordless budget this into the cost. It is a doddle to set up, you first have to register the device on the internet and set up a "LOUNGE account" this is Pures internet site (http://www.thelounge.com )you can look at it before and have a look and listen to radio or sound effects like ferrarri car or bird song through the site as a taster. This site allows you to search for you favourite radio programmes/ podcasts and link them as favoutirtes. When you turn on your radio and it connects to the web it automatically picks up you customization making it quick and easy to listen to your preset choice. The sound is good but it is Mono speaker which is a real pity. You also can't pause or rewind like the pure evoke 3.
It is very nicely made and the buttons are beutifully engineered. We looked at the Roberts.. this was frankly flimsy and looked like it was designed by a 6 year old. The other small difference is that it has to connect to the wi-fi when you switch it on so there is a short 10-20 second pause between turning on and getting sound. (reminds me of a valve television delay)
