I bought this mini system in January 2005 for about £270 from 24/7 electricals. Although it arrived months later, I was very happy with it, especially it's FM and DAB functions.
The unit is very good looking and looks good in just about any room.It is small measuring 21cm to the top of a speaker. It is also well built as it has stayed this way since I bought it. Although the initial installation process takes a little time (with connections, searching for stations and saving presets), the large screen with buttons to navigate makes it very easy and simple. Overall, the Legato is easy to use despite its many features- all explained in the clear instructions.
The most impressive of which being the ReVu capability which allows you to pause and rewind DAB radio. It can remember up to about 27 mins of radio which is enough for most situations. Another thing is the on screen display on both radio settings. When listening to the radio, messages including song names and station information are displayed. However, this deos not apply to all FM stations. The Legato also features an easily accesable preset list with station names displayed clearly on each page of the 99 presets for both radio modes. It also has an alarm, sleep timer, EQ and balance controls and autotune (although this does not always find all the stations available).
The sound reproduction from CD and radio is excellent. The speakers are of very high quality. Although they are small, they are powerful and produce good bass and treble qualities probabaly due to the 22cm deep speaker cases and bass tube. The amplifier combined with the speakers produce a well defined, rich sound.
As I have had the system for over a year, it has proved to be durable although the CD playback sometimes deos not not work. This was very frustrating. The radio capabilities, however, have continued to work very well since I bought it.
I now use the stereo mainly for the radio but I also use my laptop connected through the auxilary input often. This input can also be used to connect the system to any device such as an MP3/casette/computer. The system works very well in this way.
I would reccomend this stereo to someone looking for good radio use and sound quality. It is about what I would expect from this price range.-ben

The PureLegato 2 can also record radio to be stored via a secure digital card which is placed in the front of the unit via the provided slot. The secure digital card isn't provided with the unit but is easily purchased in many shops. A 2gb card can store around 30 hours of radio on average (calculating the average being a 128kb/second bitstream quality that is transmitted via the radio station). Many stations tend to be transmitting at the 128kb/second level at present.
Recordings can be made on the spot manually and even via an electronic programme guide. This EPG details the programmes, times and programme information at the press of a button. This option is only available with broadcasters who are implimenting such technology which currently totals around 6-7 stations until more broadcasters are...
