I have several radios and whilst they are all work fine and sound great, there is one thing that really bugs me; you have to dig out the wavelength from the Radio Times (or elsewhere) to be able to find the station. Or you have the other perennial problem of not knowing what radio station you are listening to. Not so with new digital radios. An absolute revolution in radio technology.
I starting researching digital radios some time ago but was put off buying by price. Soo expensive!
I saw the Pure Digital One in a consumer test review in Which! and it came out TOPS for sound and value. This was a major factor in my decision making because the choice of DAB radios in the shops is daunting and the most frequent complaint according to the tests, is sound quality.
The major benefit of Digital radio is that you are able to receive certain radio stations such as BBC7 which is only available on digital and my favourite LBC, (I just love Nick Ferrari) a London radio station which I can get in South Yorkshire, yay!
I can honestly say my life as a Stay at Home Mum has been transformed! I am almost unbilically attached to My Pure One!
I purchased mine from Argos for £49.99 about 8 months ago.
This particular model has the following features:
Intellitext: text for news headlines and sport TextScan: control scrolling text 20 presets: store 20 FM or DAB stations Clock, sleep and kitchen timer USB socket: to upgrade new featuresvia PC as they become available RDS: name display for stations ChargePak ready: ability to fit rechargeable battery
The scrolling text is particularly good as stations list the song and artist on the display and often other info such as telephone numbers for phone ins.
Most features are accessed with one push and turn button which does take some getting used to.
I mislaid my user instructions, but Pure has a great website which offers downloads of user instructions and updates of software as well as help and FAQS. A great aftersales feature.
It comes in white, shocking pink and black, it's small, light and compact (21cm x 14.5cm) but would be easier to transport if you have the ChargePak, but at £30 disproportionately expensive .
I think the radio could be improved by adding a carry handle.

Advantages: Nice backlight and whats playing info., good sound quality for the size, not too expensive Disadvantages: Not particularly portable, the ChargePAK is a good option but its not very cheap IMO
