Pure Digital Pocket DAB 1500

I purchased a Pure 1500 Handheld DAB / FM Radio and had it for one week as I did not get on very well with the buttons. I consequently found something else in its place. Here is the lowdown of the Pure 1500 handheld DAB Radio.

What it does:
FM and DAB with RDS (Radio Data System) which displays the radio broadcast data, ie: The station name, song data, artist data etc.

For my fingers, it seemed to be a bit of a chore using the middle navigator button flicking from left to right, up and down etc and quite occasionally I could not change the channel as my fingers slipped as I think that this particular button could have been designed a little better (this is what made me decide to change to a different dab radio). Also this button seems to click quite loudly (well probably not that loud, but seems loud at night when
in bed).

The backlight is bright orange and has 3 different selections, Off, On, or on for about 8 seconds when a button is pressed.

The Headphones (which also act as an antenna) are made by Senheiser which is a very reputable make, good quality little in ear cans.

I was shocked to find out that there was no case included with the radio, although you can purchase this from 'Pure' for £14.99.... a bit cheeky, they could have included just a fabric wallet or something at least.
The headphone socket is at the side of the radio which can pose a few problems if you wish to stick it in a smaller pocket, they should have placed this at the top!

The charger takes around 4 hours to charge the radio and boasts to last for 24 hours, although I cannot account for it lasting that long, I did only top up the charge and it lasted the whole week being used in some afternoons and evenings. Apperently just using FM instead of DAB will make the battery last longer!

Software:
The software seemed to be good, easy to understand and use, I don't think anyone will have a problem using this device.

Overall:
Although I did not have any issues with the audio quality of the radio in
normal circumstances, I just could not get used to the middle selector button
as it was a little small and fiddly. I had a bit of trouble using this device

whilst using my laptop but that could have been the wireless, once I
had found a better quality place nearby then it was ok. I also plugged the radio
straight into my stereo system (which does not have dab) and worked quite well in the house.

The thing I loved about this is the RDS feature..... if I like a song then it
is not difficult to find out who it is or what it is called as it is displayed in realtime on the display... nice. It also can tell you the type of station, ie: Pop, rock etc.
