so i upgraded my speakers to the Acousic Energy AElite 2 and a Denon PM700 Amp & Cd Player.
even using cheap cables that cost me about £3 for 10m off ebay it was ... ...
After much discussion with the guys from sevenoaks i decided to get the cables (bought fro Superfi Online - much cheaper).
so 3metres each at £5.50 a metre makes £33 plus 4 banana plugs (at £5 a piece) for each cable makes a grand total of £73 for 6 metres of cable, expensive i know !
took then home and just stuck it in the left hand speaker to start with and stuck on some heavy tunes....

WOW.....the difference is unbelieveable!!!!
just a small bit of wire can make the most major difference to the sound of the system, the bass is deeper and fuller, the midrange is clearer and more detailed and the same improvement can be said for the treble.
Although i wouldnt go made and but cable which is like £500 a meter, a sensisble upgrade of the copper in the system will work wonders with the sound

This speaker cableis amazing, no doubt about that.
I needed 10 meters in total, 5 for each speaker, in my set up. I thought this was going to be an expensive upgrade since its supposed to be £5.50 a meter and then extra for the Airloc banana plugs and fitting. But I managed to get the whole lot for £82 from hificables.co.uk. Which is a fantastic site by the way :)
As well as looking the part, these cables also boosted the performance of my system. ... ...is tight and vocals so clear. The most obvious difference was that when listening to drum and bass (love it or hate it) the bass no longer over powered the rest of the music. Nice.
I would recommend spending any extra cost to get the banana plugs fitted. It ensures the cable is properly connected without any bare wires etc, and also makes switching of amps and speakers much quicker and easier.
If you are looking for an upgrade to your hifi set ...

...to buy 5 metres of QED Silver Anniversary XT from the ever-helpful Richer sounds (£5.50 per metre) and terminate them with my existing quality banana plugs. From the first minute, a clear difference was noticeable. Bass was clearly present but tight, and treble was more precise with more "air". Surprisingly, even the mid range was improved, with vocals sounding even more natural. Hopefully they will get even better with use.

I brought this amp based purely on the Cyrus name, i thought it was time to upgrade my old Cyrus 3 amp which i have had for a number of years and was very pleased with, but felt it was time to move up the ranks and get myself the latest offering from Cyrus in the shape of the 8vs.
I purchased the amp from Leicester hi-fi ( our local cyrus dealer) the list price is £850 but because i'd brought things from them before i got £50 knocked off ( a good start).
Cyrus now unboxed and hooked to my system were ready to go.
I chose the amp in the brushed balck finish( also in silver) to match the rest of my system.
