I don't know why, but I've always been a fan of mail order shopping..the choosing, the waiting, the parcel arriving on your doorstep..I guess it brings out the kid in me! Q.V.C is my favourite shopping channel because although there are many others, it is one of only three that are available on cabletelevision as opposed to sky satellite..The other two IDEAL WORLD and BID-UP are nowhere near as good. Q.V.C is the longest running of the shopping channels having been on the air for more than ten years. Q.V.C offer a wide range of merchandise that is shown in shows of its type...for example jewellery, and each show usually lasts for one hour. They often do two and
three hour showcases but I will go into that at a later stage. The regular shows are as follows; jewellery beauty and skincare household appliances cooking utensils fashion collectibles gifts computer/office equipment d.i.y gardening healthcare & fitness equipment many other miscellaneous shows
As you can see there is something for everyone. As well as selling many well known brands for example TEFAL cookware, Q.V.C sell a lot of goods from the United States and Canada. Some of the guest presenters can be somewhat overbearing and annoying..but in a strange kind of way, entertaining!
Having such a lot of imported goods means that Q.V.C can offer something that is a bit different from what can be bought in u.k shops. I bought myself an electric toothbrush that has three special groups of bristles that clean each surface of your teeth simultaeneously. It also has a timer so you clean your teeth for exactly the recommended time and a separate tongue scraper,it is also re-chargable. I have looked and there is nothing made in this country that is similar.I am extremeley pleased with it...it also cost just £14.98 & £2.45 p&p...which leads me to talk about Q.V.C's prices.
Q.V.C are not particularly cheap I would say on average that there prices would compare with say Marks & Spencer or John Lewis's. However, they regularly have clearance hours and have a large section of clearance items on their website at all times. www.qvc.uk.com. Here it is possible to buy a wide range of goods for a fraction of their usual high street prices. The website is well worth a visit.
One of my few gripes about Q.V.C would be the postage and packing charges. It appears that they are completely arbitary. eg,they will charge you £4.95 to send you computer monitor...but will charge you the same amount to send you a silk blouse.
Occasionally q.v.c see fit to devote two, sometimes three hours to one product - this usually happens when a guest presenter eg Joan rivers and her jewellery flies in from the States. This can be a bit boring and make me do the housework instead! Occasionally they will devote an entire day to one thing IE fashion....you can have too much of a good thing you know!!!!!
Q.V.C charge p&p per item ordered from them, so as you will imagine ordering more than one thing can work out extremely expensive. As a rule..the small to medium items ie cosmetics, jewellery cost £2.95 p&p. If you are ordering more than one of the same item, they will let you pay half the p&p on the second item. This in my opinion is a pretty useless offer and I feel that it would be much better if they made one charge per order,or per day.
Q.V.C accept all major credit cards (not solo or electron) and have their own card available too which is only eligible to be used for q.v.c purchases..I am not sure of the A.P.R im afraid...but I believe you are given three months interest free credit. You can also pay by cheque. Goods here are despatched on receipt of the cheque and sent immediately if paid for by credit card. Goods arrive within five working days - in my experience it is usually less . There is a thirty day no quibble money back guarantee with all q.v.c purchases which is marvellous.
The presenters are a mixture of male and female and a number of them you will recognise from their time on mainstream television. Debbie Greenwood and Kathy Tayler to name just two.
Q.V.C is extremely fun to watch and dare I say it addictive....I find it hard to separate wants from needs!
The phone number for qvc is a free phone number 0800 30 50 40 and although you sometimes have to wait for a while for them to answer ..you are treated to Handel's watermusic or eine kleine nacht music for free!
Once you become a member...simply call in and buy something ..there is a special automated ordering service which cuts the waiting significantly.
Lastly I have to say that the quality of the merchandise that q.v.c sell is fantastic. I would highly recommend them

I tend to skim past this every now and again, and whenever I watch it, they seem to be selling a right load of old crap. Must just be a coincidence! :O)

I've never been tempted so far to buy anything. The postage charges put me off most of the time. Ang.
