I am repeating this review here as it was pointed out to me that my first review was in the wrong category . However , of the 12 reviews in the other category , 11 others have made the same mistake as me , so I dont feel too stoopid !
I first shopped with QVC a couple of years ago . I had seen some of the programmes previously , but always thought that buying goods without actually seeing them beforehand was a bit risky . It was one of the beauty programmes that changed my mind and first tempted me to place an order . The hour was dedicated to Molton Brown , a range which I had prior experience of but could not buy locally , and having seen the item I wanted ( and finding that the price compared favourably to the price on other websites ) I finally took the plunge .
Three days later the parcel arrived , well packed , complete with invoice and easy to use returns label and instructions . Also , as with all of their products ( even cosmetics , which is highly unusual if not impossible to find in the shops ) there is a full 30 day no quibble money back guarantee . There is no need to even state a reason for return . As long as the item is returned in original packaging by the date shown on the invoice QVC do indeed refund the full purchase price even if during the 30 days you have used most of the product . Amazing if you think about it .
However , my product was fine and on this occasion I didn't return it . A few months on I had found other brands , some of which I have never seen for sale in retail outlets , such as Smashbox , ( an American photographic studio who produce their own range of photo perfect make up ) , Gatineau , which only used to be available through salons , and Decleor , ( aromatherapy based skin care which smells divine ) . I am now a dedicated user of all these ranges . After comparing prices quite exhaustively on the internet I found QVC to be very competitively priced . At first I admit that I begrudged the post and packing costs a little , but when you consider how expensive it is just to park your car in the town to go shopping , you have already saved money .
I have now ordered from QVC many times , and have not been disappointed . If the goods aren't exactly what I want I return them and have never had a problem with their refund system , but to be honest , probably 8 times out of 10 my purchase has been perfect .
I mostly buy health and beauty products , but have also had items of jewellery . Their selection is vast and always honestly described . Again , if not happy , just return it . I tend to buy only gold , but as my daughter loves silver I have bought things for her and the range is both diverse and unusual . After my first jewellery purchase I took the item ( well within the 30 day return period ) for valuation just for my own peace of mind , and was delighted to find that the ring I had bought for £125 was estimated at more than double that price . Mind put at rest , I still select one or two of their most unusual pieces to add to my collection .
Their inventory includes everything from DIY , garden and pet care to jewellery , health , beauty and crafts , electronics , fashion , toys and gifts .
Postage and packaging prices vary according to the size and weight of the item , but I have never yet seen anything unreasonable .
The programmes are screened live from 9am to 2am 7 days a week , and during the night time hours a selection of recorded shows are aired
Ever day at midnight sees the launch of " Todays Special Value ", an item which can be from any category and ranging from PC systems to widescreen TVs , cameras , gardening electronics and jewellery to clothing , skincare and homewares . This item is almost always a new release , and is priced at well below even QVC's normal low price , for 24 hours only .
The " TSV " as it is referred to by the presenters , is also often offered on Easy pay , which is an interest free credit option . This is remarkable in itself as anyone can make use of this option without having to fill in reams of paperwork .
As long as you opt to pay by credit or debit card , the monthly payments are taken automatically until the item is paid for , BUT .. and here's the exceptional part ... THE GOODS ARE DESPATCHED TO YOU ON ORDER , meaning that you can Ttry them at home for the full 30 day money back period for a fraction of the outlay !
If you keep them , the payments are taken for the remainder of the term ( 2 , 3 or 4 months ) with no effort required from you . If you return the goods , further payments are automatically cancelled and the first installment refunded back to your bank or credit card .
This system seems totally foolproof , and in the number of times I have taken advantage of it I have never encountered a single problem .
The live programme schedule is broken down into one hour sections , each dedicated to a particular kind of product , and sometimes there is a two or three hour long presentation .
The presenters themselves are mostly informal , friendly and well informed , and the goods are well described , and shown from many angles , giving a close up and detailed view of the products . Nothing is hidden , and the many times zoom images reinforce the quality of the items .
The only problem I have found with QVC is the boredom factor . Each item is presented for around 3 minutes , and the live nature of the show means that sometimes the presenters have to fill the time with waffle if the item is pretty basic and unremarkable . I mean , just how long can you spend talking about a plain gold band ring ? Try it … time yourself …. Its not easy .
The on air item has the item number , description , price and postage costs clearly displayed at the left hand side of the screen for the duration of the airing , giving you plenty of time to make a note of it if you think it may be of interest to you in the future .
All in stock items can be ordered 24 hours a day online at www.qvcuk.com or via the free phone number which is onscreen . Both systems are easy to use , and you may make payment by credit or debit card , cheque or postal order .
The website is well laid out and gives you instant access to thousands of items in dozens of categories , all with stock availability , and some out of stock items have a " waitlist " facility . This means you can pre-order your item for despatch as soon as stock arrives , and the payment wont be taken until the item leaves the warehouse .
In the case of stock not having become available within 48 days your order will self cancel and payment will not have been taken.
The telephone staff ( based in Liverpool ) are unfailingly friendly and helpful , even at 2am if you should choose to call and place an order then . They will also answer any questions you may have , and if they don't know the answer immediately will connect you to someone who does . No promises of calling you back later that have you waiting in for hours only to be disappointed .
You will need a membership number to order from QVC , but this is free and easy to set up online or by telephone . Once you have your number you are ready to order , and you can also store your card details securely to save time later on . I have done this and have never encountered any fraud
Delivery of goods is stated as between 5 and 7 working days , but in my experience smaller items can arrive in 2 days .
In summary , a huge range of quality goods from a reputable and conscientious company who are rightly proud of their customer service .
I would not hesitate to recommend QVC as a very real alternative to High Street shopping , especially at busy times such as Christmas , and for the disabled and housebound who find shopping difficult or even impossible .
QVC is available on Sky channel 630 , and also on cable and freeview subject to availability .

Basically QVC is a home shopping channel available via Digital Satellite or Cable TV. It transmits live for 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. The remaining time is taken up with the day's highlights.

Some of the products in the early years were a little naff. Nowadays most of the QVC products match the quality of goods in the High Street.
The value of QVC products is very good. They consistently beat the prices of corresponding items on the High Street. This is because QVC buys its products in bulk and so gets its items at the cheapest possible price. Even QVC presenters have to pay ...

Advantages: quick and easy Disadvantages: cant check what you are buying
...You probably all know what QVC is, so why spend time talking about it?.
Instead why not read on with a cup of tea at hand.
QVC is perhaps the most recognised name for interactive shopping. QVC was founded in 1986 by Joseph Segel, a 63 year old who was interested in developing a new form of direct marketing business. He decided to start QVC after watching the Home Shopping Network for a few minutes in Florida. He saw the need for a new kind of retail ... ...share. Publicly offered at $10, QVC stock closed its first trading day at $20 per share.
QVC began on November 24th 1986 from 7.30pm to 12.00 midnight. The first broadcast was carried by 58 cable systems in 20 states. To lend credibility to the new company, QVC made a two-year deal to sell sears products.
Segal demanded that the Presenters sell by informing not pressuring the viewers about the product (Is this still maintained? Hmm I wonder lol) ...

Advantages: see it, pay for it, wait for it Disadvantages: you can easily let your spending get out of hand
...but OK, I Confess!
QVC is actually quite entertaining, whether you are actually going to buy any of the goods or not. The presenters are obviously aiming to plug the products, but most of them have a bit of personality and some of the guests are fun too.
I can't remember all the names, but the Fitness guy Tony Little sticks in my mind. He couldn't possibly not, really - with his muscles and his long hair, he thinks he's every woman's dream. Not ... ...a couple of things from QVC (or fortunately as the case may be). Both of the items have been for our home office - a Rexel Laminator and a Lexmark Inkjet printer. Both were probably around a tenner cheaper than we could have got them elsewhere and that's including the p&p charge too. So they were good deals.
They always say 'you can't buy cheaper' and they have a money back guarantee, but I wonder how often people actually do return items?
All ...

Advantages: cheap and reliable Disadvantages: annoying and done from home
QVC offers you the shopping experience from the comfort of your own home. They sell everything from lights to jewellery etc. at very reasonable prices. The quality of their products are very good and the vale for money brilliant the only snag is that you have to wait a week to get your goods and it is not the same as looking round shops to buy something, however this will be ideal for many people it's just that I personally find it take the fun out ... ...things that you just cannot find anywhere else.
All you need is a credit card or cheque, the product number and a phone and then ordering a product is simple and straight forward, some items can be paid for in instalments also.
The only problem is that the presenters spend ages on a single product selling it to the viewers and repeat the same things over and over again, this is tedious and most annoying and I find myself channel hoping and finding ...

...much choice. I noticed the QVC channel as my neighbour flicked through and thought people who shopped on it must have a screw loose.
Not that we are nosey neighbours, but we couldn't help noticing occasional boxes emblazong with "QVC" on them arriving at our neighbour's door. Sometimes she was out and we took them in for her. We would shake, sniff and try to peer in them. They were all sorts of odd sizes and only thing we think we guessed correctly ... ...my neighbour was buying on QVC because she didn't have enough to do in the day. We felt sorry for her.
Then, last year, we signed up for satellite television. What a revelation. A whole world was opened up to us. Discovery channels, Paramount Comedy, and SHOPPING! We watched it a couple of times, wondering who would be mad enough to buy anything on these things. Then it happened. A chap was on advertising his book on household cleaning. He said ...

Advantages: Online, convenient shopping Disadvantages: Is it too convenient ?
THE FACTS
Further to my exploration of my digital freeview box another shopping channel, QVC. Below some details more of the same can be found on the Wikipedia website. The name is an initialisation standing for "Quality, Value, Convenience". The first broadcast took place in that year.

The channel is broadcast in Japan, UK, USA, Germany via Cable, Satellite, Digital and terrestrial. Advantages: No queues or crowds, products demonstrated, entertaining to watch, prompt delivery Disadvantages: high p&p charges, some shows long winded and boring
I don't know why, but I've always been a fan of mail order shopping..the choosing, the waiting, the parcel arriving on your doorstep..I guess it brings out the kid in me!
Q.V.C is my favourite shopping channel because although there are many others, it is one of only three that are available on cable television as opposed to sky satellite..The other two IDEAL WORLD and BID-UP are nowhere near as good.
Q.V.C is the longest running of the shopping channels having been on the air for more than ten years.
Q.V.C offer a wide range of merchandise that is shown in shows of its type...for example jewellery, and each show usually lasts for one hour. They often do two and three hour showcases but I will go into that at a later stage.
The regular shows are as follows;
jewellery
beauty and skincare
household appliances
cooking ...

There's nothing the Sunday broadsheets like better, than to mock the afflicted: those "sad" individuals who spend all their time in front of the growing multiplicity of shopping channels on digital television.
So what channels are these, then? Well, QVC is the most famous, having been established for seven years in the UK, and in the States before that.
QVC has established itself as the leading TV shopping channel, partly because of its arrival first on the scene, but also through superb customer service, attracting celebrities onto its shows, prompt delivery, honest pricing, its "Today's Special Value" and its selection of presenters. (On this last point, QVC has suffered badly since losing Paul Lavers and Debbie Flint to Ideal World TV).
I would agree with comments made elsewhere that sometimes the presenters are obviously ...
