We have predicted that the Onkyo 607 (the 507's big brother) will comfortably outsell all ... more
other Home Cinema amps this year. We're pretty confident with that prediction, but if we're wrong, then it will probably be because the 607 is pipped to the post by none other than the 507!If that does indeed turn out to be the case, then the reason is likely to be that many customers will look at the 607 and be gobsmacked by what it will do - but then decide that they don't actually need all it has to offer. They will reason that they don't have 6 HDMI sources, so they don't need 6 HDMI inputs. They will reason that they only intend to have 5 speakers in the lounge, so they don't need a 7 channel receiver. And they will certainly question why they need an expensive scaler onboard, when all their sources (e.g. Sky HD, Blu-Ray, upscaling DVD and PS3) already output at 1080 lines resolution. In all these cases, the customers will conclude that there is no point paying for facilities they will never use, so they will opt for the 507, which is pretty similar to the 607, but nearly £200 cheaper. In doing so, they will get what is undoubtedly the bigest bargain of this Home Cinema season - a great sounding amp, with 5 channels of 130 watts, True HD sound, 4 HDMI inputs, plus a special port for connection (via single cable) to an optional DAB tuner or iPod dock. Last year, Onkyo were number one in the sales charts, taking a record 30% share of the UK Home Cinema amp market. The 507 and 607 are so good, that if anything, I think they will do even BETTER this year!

My daughter has always sung the praises of her bread maker to me and the gifts of freshly cooked bread were certainly a welcome treat. I expressed an interest in owning one myself. On mother's day this year my son surprised me with a lovely gift- a Swan bread maker SB 1010!
Never having used a bread maker before the first loaf was very experimental. I tried and failed to make sure that the water added in the recipe was just the right temperature, buy heating it first. Consequently the loaf sunk sadly in the middle. On my next attempt I used water directly from the cold tap and was delighted with the result- a well- risen golden loaf accompanied by an appetising aroma!
My partner has always enjoyed bread with carraway seeds-not easy to find and quite expensive.I decided to try adding carroway seeds to my bread mixture and the end ...

a 1982 robot on stilts; rotating similar to a head of an electric toothbrush. In my pocket I will have a little electric toothbrush of my own.
57. What do you think about before you go to bed?
Did I check the fire alarm battery? Did I clean my bed sheets? I can?t get that damn ?Hamlet? advert tune out of my head. Where has that Penelope Pitstop poster gone? My electric toothbrush is very similar to Peter Crouch doing his robot dance after he scores. Did I answer all those 700 questions in that weird Q& A; for my adoring Ciao public?
No brain cells were harmed while answering these questions. Thank you for reading. ...

Advantages: 200+ LP reviews every months Disadvantages: Biased towards certain artists and genres
Q was founded in 1986 to match the existing monthly glossies, Vox and Select, and to provide a grown up alternative to Smash Hits.
Here is a breakdown of items and regular features in a typical issue of Q. I have rated each aspect out of 5.
SPINE MESSAGE
------------------------
A cryptic message in tiny font on the spine. It used to have something to do with the cover star, but lately the message can relate to anyone featured in the issue. A recent one read: "Lulu, Cerys Matthews, the Hamiltons". It turns out they have all been guests of Cable TV, a BBC Wales chat show hosted by Stuart Cable (ex of the Stereophonics). A small Q&A with the Stereophonics featured a question about Cable's sacking. Get it right and printed and you win whatever electrical item is on offer that month. Headphones and DVD players have been up ...
