Advantages Very revealing
Disadvantages Make badly recorded music sound worse
I have been looking for a speaker to go with my Naim set-up that did not over power my living room. I felt that the Naim speakers apart from being physically to big for my listening area cost too much for my pocket.
I found a friend of mine had just up-graded his system and had a pair of these speakers for sale, he had been using these speakers to listen to one of the best turntables in world in my humble opinion a Linn LP 12 so I knew that the Quad speakers could cope with "high end" sound. This is where the Quad speaker fitted the bill perfectly for my requirements not only did they look great they come in various finishes, (I have the high gloss black piano finish) for all tech heads out there the speakers bi-wireable, the binding posts are gold plated, the internal wiring is done with oxygen free cable. The speaker itself is 86 dB/watt senstive and needs 6 ohms to run by and the dimensions are as follows 325mm x 190mm x 243mm and for best results need to mounted on a good quality stand.
The sound quaility was breath taking from my pervious speakers the sound that now met my ears was more musical and had that "being there" sound that good Hi-fi is all about. I found that music I had been listening to for years sounded very different this I found a little disturing, but in a good way.I tried these speakers with as many different genres of music as I could think of from Jazz, Folk, Pop, Soul, Dance and Blues.
With every kind of music the performance was just jaw dropping and deliver a very enjoyable and musical sound that is very easy to live with.

Nice simple to read review there. I 've used Quad amps and speakers for years and they are stunning ( if somewhat expensive ), but I think the average reader on here may not know about them, perhaps a bit more details would be better .......Roy
